At @10DowningStreet to demand a rethink on floating bus stops. Andrew here, used to be able to get the bus to M&S, Hyacinth to hospital and her knitting shop. Now it’s not possible because SoS @Heidi_Labour prioritise fit young cyclists who can’t wait over blind and disabled people. @Number10cat

Will govt & @activetraveleng be ordering a review of LTNs thru’ the lens of social justice/recommending removal of any that create a hostile environment for those living, working, cycling, walking, using buses etc on surrounding roads due to traffic displacement from LTN streets?
Today, the Government has announced plans to deliver thousands of new walking, wheeling and cycling routes across England, transforming everyday trips to schools, shops and services. We're central to delivering this – helping to shape happier, healthier and greener communities.

Is it intelligent to create increasingly hostile environments on residential roads surrounding LTNs by diverting traffic from LTN streets onto them? I think not.

The organisation representing blind people that has done more than any other to highlight the injustice of floating bus stops was pointedly ignored by SoS @Heidi_Labour as part of the consultation process on floating bus stops. It’s easy to see why.

Kevin from Rochdale & colleagues from London are heading to @10DowningStreet to petition @Keir_Starmer on Monday 15 June at 11am on the new DfT floating bus stop guidance. The consultation was a sham & the guidance is discriminatory. It must be withdrawn. It is unfit for purpose.

This is a must-watch from Ediz. He convincingly shows that the claimed evaporation is false because the equipment used doesn't measure slow-moving traffic. We are being misled.

I condemn the lies of evaporation outside LTNs …. You continue to support harming people

The ‘Cycling experts’ are the ones that got us into this mess: “Cycling experts suspect the growing number of injuries may be more linked to the city running out of cycling infrastructure capacity rather than the greater use of e-bikes.”
'While fewer people are losing their lives on London’s roads, the rise in serious injuries is a reminder that too many people are still suffering life-changing consequences as a result of road collisions,' says @CarolineRussell, leader of the Green group on the London Assembly standard.co.uk/news/london/c…

Wheeling as a term is unacceptable. It pretends that wheelchair users and non disabled cyclists have the same needs which they don’t. It’s co-opting inclusive terminology & then using it to get funding to implement cycling infra which ignores inclusive design 🤯#EcoAbleism

Let me translate: -Engineered and deliberate congestion created on roads - badly designed cycle lanes which make no sense -more cyclists breaking laws with impunity -more zombie pedestrians starting at phones wondering into roads - LTNs no resident wants but they’ll be ignored anyway after thousands spent on performative consultations Congrats Heidi, you’re taking what you did in London to new national lows.

In a follow-up to his earlier piece @nicholascecil reveals the London boroughs seeing the biggest rise in cycling accidents. Quote from Conservative London Assembly member Thomas Turrell gets to the heart of the matter: "Londoners will have serious questions about the objectivity and reliability of the data the Mayor and TfL presents them now that we understand how they present it. It strikes at the heart of transparency in government when authorities seek to paint a false image - that cycling in the capital is getting safer - when the opposite is true.” standard.co.uk/news/london/c…

OMG! Some bloke from Lab actually hastily put a leaflet through my door late this afternoon. What a laugh! Sheila S-R is not an advocate for Hackney Central - just for the UMC folk inside LTNs. We REJECTED a her in May & will reject her in June. Vote Lib Dems for a change.

@katherinedunne Hi Katherine, were you aware there had been such a large increase in serious cycle injuries since @Willnorman had been appointed and that cycling was getting less safe?

If @WillNorman wants to be transparent on cyclist safety he would publish 1. The number of Killed and Serious injuries (KSI) for 2025 (1196); 2. a chart showing the numbers over the last 20 years and 3. a chart showing the risk per journey or Km over the last 20 years. And maybe how much this has all cost!

Will, this is deflection to try to hide the fact that TfL has been found out as being less than open about cycle casualties. It is a classic tactic to try to undermine two of your accusers. You know fine that neither Vincent nor I are 'anti-cycling '

There is nothing in this article about any correlation between the fall in congestion in London and LTNs. In fact, LTNs are not even mentioned. YOU HAVE SIMPLY MADE THIS UP.

Powerful piece in the Standard: "London transport chiefs accused of 'cover-up' on record high cycling casualties." Even the London Cycling Campaign admits the rate is increasing: “The current level of risk is on the rise and there are more serious injuries than there was growth in cycling." standard.co.uk/news/london/c…

If there’s anywhere that shows the devastating effects of LTNs, it’s Hackney Central. Yet, there’s no mention from this Labour candidate about the unprecedented traffic levels on Roads like Graham Road. Shameful.

Jeremy Vine’s favourite cycle lane causes 500pc increase in accidents. The same picture is emerging across London where cycle deaths and serious injuries are at a record high. The article is behind the paywall so I've extracted key paras: Serious accidents involving cyclists have increased 500 per cent on a bicycle lane that Jeremy Vine claimed had improved road safety, analysis of collision data suggests. Vine praised the west-London King Street route after a segregated bike lane was introduced, costing taxpayers millions of pounds. However, research shows that from 2016 to 2019, there were five serious collisions involving bikes on King Street and Hammersmith Road. After the bike lane was built, there were 30 between 2021 and 2024. The King Street cycle lane, part of the £12m Cycleway 9, has been controversial because it involves a two-way cycle track built on a one-way street. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06…
