Can 1995-1999 be it’s own separate generation? We don’t even claim the 2000s

RT @Tamantha_5: No shade… but I don’t think multi-millionaire pro athletes should be charging kids for sports camps 🤷🏾‍♀️

And this mentality right here is why our kids will never be free from the post career horrors of American football Black men and Black women have your kids watch soccer and have them play it, let’s get our kids into a safer sport
Black Americans don't watch soccer like that nor do they really about the sport

Poch isn't wrong. tbh And it's not just a soccer thing either. Just look at the teams who regularly pick in the top 5 in the NFL, or in MLB or the NBA. Rev shares guarantee profitability. Team valuations only ever go up. Players and coaches fight hard because they want to keep their job, but some owners aren't really incentivized to invest because they make money no matter what. Overseas, the threat of relegation ensures competitiveness because there is room for the people with the checkbook to actually be embarassed.
Mauricio Pochettino said that ‘American sports reward losers’ when asked about the style of play in top European nations vs. in the U.S. 😯🇺🇸 QUESTION: “We know how England, France, Spain play… Players from countries with a strong tradition have a recognizable style. What is the style of the US team? What kind of football do the Americans want to play?” ANSWER: “Their culture is playful. They want to play. We told them, “Guys, playing soccer is one thing, competing is another.” They’re two completely different sports. They grow up in a culture of playing. Why? If you start in MLS and you haven’t won a game in three months and you’re at the bottom, what’s the consequence if there’s no promotion or relegation, no international competition? American sports reward losers! But soccer is different: if you reward those who don’t win… If you don’t have goals, you don’t fight. If I lose, what happens? Nothing. They just fire the coach. Also, the American player is disciplined. But with a sense of complacency that isn’t good in soccer. It took us a year and a half to change that mentality.” [EL PAIS]

Ugh I hate seeing “Serena and Venus” names in that order. I’m an old school fan of the sisters. It’s always gonna be VENUS AND SERENA in these parts.

They said Jimmy wouldn’t do anything in Miami. We were a retirement home. 2 Finals trips. 3 ECFs. Giannis is a better player. Get him and worry about the rest.

In the sweep of history, admittedly not all that long, this is likely the most pathetic and most captured generation of black athletes there’s ever been.

Brother he’s parroting the same tropes that people have historically parroted about black women, case in point how people used to and still to an extent speak about Venus and Serena Williams
