I know I am celebrating some good personal news today but what is happening nationally on college campuses is untenable, unjust, and of great concern.
Violent removal of students who are peacefully gathering is wrong on all levels.
The contrast between cops' rapid and violent dispersal of left-wing anti-Israel protests on public university campuses in 2024 and the leisurely, peaceful way cops dealt with neo-Nazis marching through a public university campus in Charlottesville in 2017 is pretty striking.
Perhaps a little late, but I am happy to report that I will be starting on the tenure track at Bates College in Environmental Studies this summer! Casey and I have both accepted TT positions.
Happy to share experiences with anyone who is trying to do similar, especially in the liberal arts college / PUI world.
A few quick notes:
-It's rough out there on the market. ANY rejection you get is not about you.
-FIT matters.
