PyTorch Foundation member @NVIDIA just adopted OpenMDW-1.1 across four of its biggest open model families. OpenMDW is the Linux Foundation's permissive licensing framework — originally launched in 2025 with the PyTorch Foundation — purpose-built for AI model distributions instead of being retrofitted from traditional software licenses. By replacing fragmented, restrictive AI licenses with one unified legal framework covering models, weights, code, documentation, and data, OpenMDW gives developers clear rights to train, modify, contribute, redistribute, and deploy. 🔗 Learn more: linuxfoundation.org/press/li…

Thanks to the TorchSpec team for their integration with vLLM! Check it out!

We’re excited to introduce TorchSpec, a torch-native framework for scalable speculative decoding training developed by the TorchSpec and Mooncake teams. By streaming hidden states from inference engines to training workers via Mooncake, TorchSpec enables fully disaggregated pipelines where inference and training scale independently. 🔗 Read our latest blog from TorchSpec & Mooncake teams: pytorch.org/blog/torchspec-s… @lightseekorg @KT_Project_AI #PyTorch #TorchSpec #Mooncake #OpenSourceAI

Over the past two years, PyTorch Foundation has evolved into an umbrella foundation hosting PyTorch, @vllm_project, @DeepSpeedAI & @raydistributed, with expanded governance, global programs, and production-grade infrastructure supporting open source AI at scale. Under Matt White’s (@matthew_d_white) leadership as Executive Director, PyTorch Foundation strengthened cross-project technical coordination, scaled international conferences and community programs, and advanced multi-cloud CI. Now, our leadership structure is evolving: Matt will serve as CTO of PyTorch Foundation, alongside his role as Global CTO of AI at Linux Foundation. Mark Collier (@sparkycollier) joins as Executive Director of PyTorch Foundation. “As the scope grows, there is a straightforward operational reality: leadership capacity must scale so that organizational throughput, not leadership bandwidth, sets our pace,” writes Matt. 🖇️ Read Matt’s full announcement: hubs.la/Q042HtT60 #PyTorch #AIInfrastructure #OpenSource

We are donating MCP to the newly created Agentic AI Foundation. I am thrilled that we found a way to ensure that MCP will always remain neutral. Our commitment to MCP remains the same. We continue to be deeply involved and help steer the ship alongside other core maintainers from OpenAI, Google, AWS and Microsoft and the broader MCP community.

Anthropic is donating the Model Context Protocol to the Agentic AI Foundation, a directed fund under the Linux Foundation. In one year, MCP has become a foundational protocol for agentic AI. Joining AAIF ensures MCP remains open and community-driven. anthropic.com/news/donating-…
