Happy Halloween! 👻
Who knew science could be so hauntingly beautiful? Check out this confocal microscopy image where a 12 μm cryosection from the head of an early chicken embryo forms a ghostly face. The image has been provided by Ádám Soós of @semmelweishu. Happy #Halloween!

Americans with student loans are out here begging people to listen because we are spending DECADES paying on these loans, but the balances never move. I have paid my entire loan balance from 2006 $10,000, & I still owe more than the original loan. THIS IS CALLED USURY, & it is the norm. Debt consolidation scams are also rampant. My debt is on the lower end, but people are out here with 6 figure loan balances they will NEVER pay off. These aren’t loans, it’s crime. Unfortunately, a lot of people—older Americans especially—have no idea this is our reality. Individuals are blamed, instead of the *extremely lucrative* student loans scam. People say, “Just pay your debts.” WE PAID OUR DEBTS, and then we paid them again, & again, & again. The balances never budge. I graduated college 20 years ago. End Stage Capitalism is SO bleak.

Here's the thing about AI in biology: it absolutely has revolutionary potential, but any model is only as good as the data it's trained on. And there's a lot we don't know or are simply wrong about in bio. Want to truly build AI for bio? Invest in basic discovery science.

Nick Gilbert always brings the right vibe 😎 RIP to a legend. I work with the Gilbert Family Foundation for research on developmental neurobiology, but also grew up in northern Ohio, rooting for the Cleveland teams (even the Browns at their worst). Sincere condolences 😔
