*taps papers on an empty desk* Well, it’s about time for me to get out of here. For over a decade there was a fantastic community here. I met some fantastic people, I will miss you all, and what the platform was. Thank you for putting up with my nonsense, my typos, all of it. ❤️

I imagine I’ll be mostly on BS (in more ways than one), I need to fix my relationship with IG and by extension Threads. And I wrote up something late last night about the election that I should have up on medium later today.

Dems holding this seat would be incredible. Porter getting elected in the first place was a huge upset so the assumption was when she left this was supposed to be an automatic GOP pickup.

In the open Katie Porter #CA47, an additional 8,901 votes from today's Orange County update break 52.9%/47.1% for Democrat Dave Min, cutting Republican Scott Baugh's lead by 517 votes down to 616 votes and 0.22%.

They’re going to start in blue states, in big cities and the GOP hope is that people push back. This lets them bring in the military and crack down. This will force Dem electeds on the ballot next year to make a choice, back the Trump Deportation Force or stand with “the mob.”
Any chance that the deportations are going to start with migrant employees working for Trump donors?

Y’all better start bookmarking these stories for when the GQP tries to lie their way through 2025 & 2026. Companies are already preparing for tariffs and that means higher prices and layoffs 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’m almost positive most folks that voted red had no idea. toledoblade.com/business/aut…

For what it's worth, we don't even have to wait: It was *last week* when Trump said the U.S. economy is in good shape — and he wanted credit: tinyurl.com/4ek6emay
How long do we give it till our president-elect takes credit for strong economic growth, rising real wages, falling inflation, and record low levels of unemployment?

Maybe it will be part of the NDA.
There are rumors that Govt employees, including some senior military officers, will be required to sign a “loyalty pledge.” As a reminder, the only thing you are loyal to is the Constitution. Especially military

Donald Trump gave farmers $28 billion in handouts to make up for the losses inflicted on them by China's retaliation against his tariffs, and working-class people didn't seem to mind at all.

Handouts are not popular with the working class, Part 2024. Related: Government checks do not “end poverty.” They cover it up with handouts.

It’s really too stupid for words. But here we are.
"we lost because of podcasts" is quite a take.

I don’t particularly like to call people dumb. But this take is insufferably stupid and makes me question this person’s general competence.

Another House Dem aide gets in touch: “Our party must learn that outside of our tiny insular bubble, AOC is toxic to the Democratic brand with swing voters. Her primetime DNC speaking slot played directly into the narratives that lost us this election”

Bracing myself for the takes that are like, ‘Man, who could have guessed Trump was going to surround himself with those who enable his worst impulses and who help him commit crimes from the Oval Office. Who saw that coming?’
Something I hear about Wiles: she does not have an ideological agenda. Unlike 2017, when Priebus (steeped in Paul Ryan-style politics) and Bannon (nationalist) competed over WH's policy drift, Wiles is seen as a strong figure in Trump orbit, but one who won't try to tilt Trump.

Every bit of this is why a good number of Trump voters went to the polls. Because accountability is for other people and accountability cannot be, under any circumstances, enforced by a Black woman in power. Ever.
Potential Trump AG Mike Davis threatens NY AG Letitia James: "I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against … Trump... listen here, sweetheart, we're not messing around this time and we will put your fat*** in prison for conspiracy against rights."
