The end of the war must be fair, and I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine and our people today for the sake of peace in Ukraine, which is defending the vital security interests of our European nations. Ukraine values and fully supports the statement by President Macron, Prime Minister Meloni, Chancellor Merz, Prime Minister Tusk, Prime Minister Starmer, President Ursula von der Leyen, and President Stubb on peace for Ukraine. president.gov.ua/en/news/spi…

Merkel cell carcinoma log, day #361 @Cigna has been giving my oncology team at @DanaFarber fits, refusing to cover my fourth Merkel cell carcinoma scan, marking the one-year anniversary of treatment. The scan is absolutely essential, as I've been unable - so far - to get a ctDNA test set up with the scanty tumor tissue available from my original biopsy. (I asked if I needed another biopsy in the beginning, but, hey, didn't happen.) So there's only one radar on recurrence now. Which is the big, big thing for @cancer patients responding (partial remission) to frontline treatment. Evidently, the fourth scan doesn't fit their guidelines, but it's SOP in Merkel cell, when you'd like to take another shot at it if/when frontline fails. So why don't you buy a clue, Cigna, and do what's right here. For all the millions of Americans with cancer who deal with private insurance.

It is disappointing to see these @US_FDA staff departures. Bringing innovation to patients requires a strong and experienced agency!

Re MFN/Medicaid, hearing that this particular proposal will face strong opposition from House Republicans (government price controls represent the importation of socialized medicine/drug rationing). But having ex US countries free ride is also not going to fly so the industry must bring to the White House concrete alternative ideas & solutions to address the free riding issue $XBI $BBC

As people chew on MFN this am, it’s worth reminder about other significant US vs. EU healthcare cost differences. Every system different. You cannot simply import foreign prices. If we want to really lower prices for Americans, get rid of OOP costs!

Big Pharma has no problem committing billions to moving part of its manufacturing to the US to appease Trump, but they'll fight MFN pricing tooth and nail. I don't see Trump making it stick. But the new bomb throwing destabilizes the industry even more. Heckuva sorry excuse for "reform."

The SAVE Act would block voting rights for up to 69 million women—just because they changed their names. Mismatch a maiden name? No vote. Can’t afford a $165 passport? Too bad. This is not security—it’s targeted suppression. Tell the Senate: VOTE NO. #SaveDemocracy

It's quite clear that no one "of similar stature and credibility" would either take the job or be offered it by RFK. Coming off of a long drive, I was thinking how nice it would be to go back to criticizing the revolving door between industry/agency or calling for CRLs to be published. Instead, it's holding the line against the destruction of the FDA's credibility with the public. Once gone, there's no bouncing back.
I thank Dr. Marks for his dedicated service to the health of our country. His departure is a loss to the FDA. Commissioner Makary and Secretary Kennedy should replace him with someone of similar stature and credibility amongst the scientific community, who will lead without bias.

XBI down more than 5% as the industry grapples with this disaster. Blowing up the FDA is a dumb idea. I doubt that much is getting done these days as staffers wait to see if they have a job, or focus on whether they want one.
