Honestly, i think it’s hard to put Frank in alt R&B in the same way as Abel, but i see why. Frank took a more traditional R&B approach and was played on R&B/Pop radio. He is far from a normal mainstream guy but he was still consider normal R&B when CO dropped. HOB was not
