Here's a 1930s version of the Radio Garden: the Austrian-built Ingelen Geographic radio that had a map of Europe in place of a conventional dial; tiny lights, powered by a forerunner of fiber optics, would indicate the location of each tuned station.
It's crawling towards 11AM in Milano, where the little coffees are coming to an end and my favourite jazz station on earth is playing it restoratively, as always
