🚨 PRESS STATEMENT | MANHIZE COMMUNITY CRISIS 🚨 Behind the glossy headlines about steel production and industrial growth in Manhize lies a painful reality of 💔 cracked houses, 💧 dry boreholes, 🌫️ dust pollution, and displaced elderly villagers left without farmland or livelihoods. We are calling on the Government of Zimbabwe to urgently intervene and enforce the construction of safe and standard housing for affected communities. ⚠️ Elderly women and families from Mushenjere village are among the hardest hit. ⚠️ Six boreholes reportedly drilled by the company turned into dry holes. ⚠️ Relocation houses have reportedly developed serious structural cracks. ⚠️ Communities say choreographed media tours focus on production sites while avoiding affected residential areas. Development must never come at the expense of human dignity, community rights, and environmental justice. 📢 Read and share our full statement. cnrgzim.org/news/press-state… #PeopleOverProfit @Disco_Zimbabwe @ZimdiamondW @MinistryMines @Informa34567899 @newswireZW @NewsDayZimbabwe @daddyhope @ZBCNewsonline @sentinelzim @ChineseZimbabwe @ZimbabweACEYF @China_Amb_Zim @nickmangwana @thestandardzim @DailyNewsZim1

We must learn how to be smarter, more strategic and more united. Otherwise, corporate and governmental power will continue to increase at our expense, and imperil the future of humanity.

As the world reels from Gulf war, in Kenya, the once forgotten Lamu Port has roared to life. Long dismissed as a white elephant, it has seen 974% surge in volume. Ultra large vessels, too deep for Mombasa & too exposed for Gulf waters, now dock at Lamu’s 18 meter natural depth.

Trump’s claim that the war in Iran is ‘very complete’ was wishful thinking. In a further unexpected twist, the US is even turning to Ukraine to supply it with cheap anti drone defences made locally opendemocracy.net/en/trump-n…
