Yesterday was my first time testifying in court as an expert witness (as a fellow, btw). I’ll go at least 2 more times before July. Residents, if u want real courtroom experience during fellowship, you need to consider Cook County. 1 of many reasons it’s the best in the country

#PathMatch22 One thing I did before all my interviews was look up the faculty I would interview with. You’ll usually get an itinerary with all the faculty who you’ll meet with 1-2 days before the interview. Look at their faculty profile page, see where they did 1/x

How do things compare between where you are now and where you trained. There will be interviews where the faculty won’t ask you any questions and will literally start the interview with ‘so what questions do you have for me?’ I had this happen 3-4 times. It was helpful 3/x

To be prepared beforehand to have meaningful conversation about their interests and career. It was nice having these personalized conversations to offset the inevitable zoom fatigue. You’re interested will be recognized and appreciated. 4/4
