When they applied standard concussion tests to Long Covid patients, researchers noticed the same tell-tale issues. One was problems with eye-tracking movements, assessed via the King-Devick test, which measures the ability to scan numbers.

"Quick sideline tests exist. My son’s league is committed to protecting its players. Each team has a trained safety officer with access to the sideline King-Devick test for which a baseline is established for each player at the beginning of the season."

What is the relationship between visual dysfunction during exercise & the development of persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS)? In this study participants who showed visual dysfunction following exercise were more likely to develop PPCS (71% vs 34%)

Mayo crew spent Saturday morning performing preseason concussion testing on 9-13 year old athletes. Baseline scores on King-Devick are used for future sideline concussion screening. Improving immediate recognition = better outcomes.
