Big shout out to the Fianna Fail PP for leaking screenshots of Senator @ErinMcGreehan's WhatsApp messages. But the good Senator said the exact same thing almost 4 years ago to the day. For fucks sake, Senator.

Phoenix liked to suggest it was anti establishment but often times its traditionalist FF slip would peak out from under its skirts. Had very funny stuff in the 80s, Irish wildlife was one I think.

"a reduced consultant salary that offsets the additional cost to the State of indemnity under the Clinical Indemnity Scheme could allow a limited private option in obstetrics," That is what the old system allowed for, & public patients were shortchanged. irishtimes.com/opinion/2026/…

Without being able to see the complete cost breakdown I suspect the large total being used is the cost of things we'll be using long after the 6 months is over.

It's priceless that the right wing press are losing their minds that Restore might cost Reform the seat. They keep referring to Restore as far or hard right, despite mainly having the policies the press have been demanding for years.
I get the Reform argument a vote for Restore is a vote for Burnham. But what I don’t understand is how that’s different from the argument the Tories made two years ago that a vote for Reform was a vote for Starmer. Can someone explain the intellectual or political difference.

You could write a similar article about how much the Examiner could cost people annually, about €100 million plus, but I doubt they'd publish it.

So Aontu are going to eliminate translation of legislation and state services into Irish then? By both the Irish state and the EU. That's an interesting angle for them to take.
€90 million is a massive amount of money.

Wasn't @FineGael supposed to have a rolling manifesto based around the notion of a Republic of Opportunity? What happened to that?

Evening and Saturday work levels among hospital consultants ‘really disappointing’, says Minister. Somehow I doubt the Australian health system let's Irish doctors or other medics to focus on a primarily 9 to 5 schedule. People get sick 24/7. irishtimes.com/politics/2026…

It would be interesting to know what the blueprint for the discussion of this document at an Ard Fheis will be. Generally, 'discussions' at an Ard Fheis or indeed any other party event involves the following format. Limited time for the session, often 40/60 minutes
Today I am announcing that @FineGael will develop a new blueprint for a Unified Island for our Ard Fheis this November The work will be led by the Fine Gael Northern Ireland Engagement Group and facilitated by the very excellent, academic Professor Deirdre Heenan.

Open things out to the members but not before noting that there's limited time & members should keep their contributions short. This is after the top table will have consumed well over half the allotted time. 3/5 members will get about 60 seconds each then we're back to

The top table panellists to respond, often with contributions that ignore what the members had said. Then we're out of time & it's clear the room for the next session. Keep in mind that this is called listening to the members, where members spoke for about 10% of the time....
