Gaza is “a post-apocalyptic environment,” with “people just waiting to be killed, either by airstrike, by disease, or even by hunger,” says UNRWA chief Philippe @UNLazzarini. On the consequences of the Knesset vote to stop UNRWA’s operations, he warns “that means that the backbone of the humanitarian response in Gaza will collapse.” Watch my full conversation with UNRWA’s commissioner general about the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, Israel’s move to shut down the organization, allegations of links to Hamas, and more.

“..critical for non-GM supply chains incl. organic, that govt legislate co-existence. Untraceable new GMOs in food/farming threatens ability to fulfil legal duty to maintain separate supply chains. Govt agencies have duty of care to safeguard food systems integrity across the UK”

This is a dark, dark day for people around the globe. The world’s largest economy and most powerful military will be led by a dangerous, destructive demagogue.

A grim moment for #Kyiv. A second Trump presidency means the probable end of US military assistance to Ukraine. The country's troops are already outgunned on the battlefield, with Russia advancing at the fastest rate since 2022. East - most of Donetsk oblast - may be lost in 2025

Remembering John Berger born on this day in 1926. Before starting my Foundation course at St Albans college of art in 1984 ‘Ways If Seeing’ was our required reading, still sharp and relevant now. It was an honour to provide the artwork for his last book ‘Ein Geschenk Fur Rosa’

The decimation of libraries probably affects under 5s - the age where reading for pleasure is established - more than any other group. Books for little kids are short and expensive, but you used to be able to go to a library and take 5 different ones home every week.
