This morning, a Toronto Police Officer, Constable Marc Pinizzotto, was killed in the line of duty. This tragedy follows the death of OPP Constable Tarun Bali on Tuesday. Canada mourns the loss of these brave officers who dedicated their lives to protecting their communities.
My prayers are with their loved ones, their fellow officers, and their communities in this time of grief.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto, of the TPS Emergency Task Force who was shot and killed in the line of duty this morning. Making the ultimate sacrifice, Constable Pinizzotto was also a veteran of 18 years with the TPS, serving his community.
Law enforcement officials represent some of the best and bravest of our communities. Words cannot ease their grief, but my thoughts are with his family, friends and the larger Toronto police family as they mourn this tremendous loss.
