Westminster Labour failed local people at every turn: - They surrendered OS to Sadiq Khan. - They voted down our fighting fund to challenge Sadiq Khan’s vanity project. - And their collusion and capitulation has left it too late to legally challenge Sadiq Khan’s temu scheme via Judicial Review (the deadline for which was 26 May). However we continue to explore all possible legal options to fight for local people and stand up where Westminster Labour failed

Labour in Westminster haven’t a leg to stand on when it comes to Oxford Street. They didn’t just stand by passively. They *actively* facilitated the Mayor’s plans and prevented councillors from subjecting the decision to proper scrutiny. @westminstertory

At a time where the national Labour government is cutting funding for inner London boroughs, our request is simple: if a levy is introduced, that money should stay local.
We are clear: any overnight tourist levy must work for Westminster, not against it. If a levy is introduced, the money should stay local and be reinvested in the priorities that matter to residents and businesses, including safety, cleaning, and support for our hospitality sector. Our leader, Cllr Paul Swaddle @paulswaddle discussed this with BBC London’s Eddie Nestor after the King’s Speech. westm.news/2b6d17 #Westminster #Hospitality #TourismTax #TouristTax

Very clear articulation of why a decent share of any overnight levy should stay with local councils and not all end up in the hands of the Mayor. @paulswaddle
