BREAKING: PCB unveils a radical new central contract model for 2026, replacing the traditional A/B/C/D categories with five format-based tracks in what it calls a βworld-firstβ structure in cricket.
πΉ Track AB β Dual Format (Test & ODI): PCBβs top-tier multi-format players, carrying both Test and ODI responsibilities. Can still play T20Is if selected, but are recognised primarily as red-ball and one-day cricketers.
πΉ Track A β Red-Ball Specialist (Test): Dedicated Test cricketers, with added incentives and permission to play overseas first-class cricket to strengthen red-ball development.
πΉ Track BC β White-Ball (ODI & T20I): Core limited-overs players whose primary role is across Pakistanβs ODI and T20I teams.
πΉ Track C β T20I & Franchise Specialist: Players focused on short-format cricket, given greater flexibility to pursue franchise leagues around national commitments.
πΉ Track D β Development/NCA: Emerging players identified through the National Cricket Academy and domestic pathway for future progression.
PCB says players will now be assessed only against others in the same format pathway, while Chairman Mohsin Naqvi says the new framework aims to protect Test cricket and bring more transparency and fairness to contract decisions.

Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland.
We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement. I would also especially thank the visionary leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of TΓΌrkiye for their immense contributions in this regard.
With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony.

Pakistan has officially confirmed its participation in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup and will travel to Indonesia from September 21 to October 6 after receiving an invitation from FIFA.
The tournament will see Pakistan take on India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, marking the nation's first-ever appearance in a FIFA-sanctioned tournament outside the qualification pathway.
