STUDENT COUNCILS, ORGS BACK SEPT 29 3 P.M. WALKOUT VS CORRUPTION
BREAKING: The UST Artlets Student Council (ABSC), Commerce and Business Administration Student Council (CBASC), and the Faculty of Arts and Letters Board of Majors (AB BOM) released statements on Sunday calling for a classroom walkout to protest massive government corruption.
The ABSC says the walkout, set to begin on Monday, 3 p.m. at the Roque Ruaño Building with a program at the Arch of the Centuries at 4 p.m., is “not an act of defiance or disruption, but an act of conscience.” It urges administrators and professors to extend “understanding and leniency” to students who choose to participate.
The AB BOM also declares solidarity with the UST Central Student Council and the ABSC, saying that “to forget this origin [of resistance] is to forget our identity.”
“Hindi ito basta paglabas ng klase—ito ay matapang na paninindigan. Sa harap ng katiwalian, ipinapakita natin na hindi tayo papayag na manatiling tahimik,” the CBASC says.
