- Maui gas is 1.65/L CAD. In Canmore, where he's from, it's 1.35.
- State sales tax in Hawaii? 4%, to AB's 0%.
- Eggs in Maui? Over $10 USD/dozen at Costco.

1. There is no trouble with U.S. Customs. . . whatsoever. Americans are very welcoming people.
2. Gasoline is less expensive (even with CAD/USD exchange).
3. Food is less expensive (even with CAD/USD exchange.
4. Freedom of speech is not an issue here.
5. Municipal tax is inexpensive.
Given that this is a “very expensive” island, you have been sold a bad, bad, bill of goods Canada.
Cost of living is outrageous in Canada.
