wouldn't it be great if @NHSEngland had a carers policy across all hospitals so that when carers are in hospital caring for loved one they are treated like staff access to food and a cuppa and a bed and a pee while they take the pressure off staff on wards #RealCarersWeek
I have found no change, despite a charter - although that is not cascaded down to staff and wards- another battle we don't need when caring for very sick loved ones. Wards not disability friendly/poor access/poor knowledge of disabilities & carers.
Never underestimate a cup of tea! 🫖

Carers like me are so grateful for a cuppa & a slice of toast/sandwich when in hospital with our loved ones…
Don’t forget us as many of us can’t leave our loved ones’ sides. We need fuel to keep going 24/7, 365 days a year!
As #CarersWeek talks about “carer‑friendly communities”, but my son’s needs are ignored. He can’t cope in shared accommodation - it would be a mini‑institution for him. He needs his own tenancy and tailored support. Independent living is his right, not a luxury.#CarersWeek2026
Israel says it won’t leave Lebanon, Syria, or Palestine.
A genocidal, expansionist state can openly declare the intent to occupy three nations without generating a single headline in Western media.
I posted this in 2022 what happened- nothing absolutely now. Still same old shit and politicians and charities still crawl out of woodwork once a year talk shit n disappear again #CarersWeek

Carer orgs promote “carer‑friendly communities”,but unpaid carers are posting the reality of role, unsafe housing, failing health, no independent living pathways, no respite, living in hospitals 24/7 with not even a bed - MSPs need to hear the reality, not the PR. #CarersWeek2026
I don't want Carer's 'events'.
I'm much too busy balancing employment & caring, going to appointments & meetings, keeping up with family life, cleaning my house etc.
I want consistent, high quality short-break respite services.
#CarersWeek
#CarersWeek is an underwhelming, under-supported, disappointment which pretty much echoes how #UnpaidCarers are treated so at least I guess it stays very much on theme.
#UnpaidCarers what has your week been like during #CarersWeek2026 ? me I'm knackered - You? appointments /driving/juggling/chasing services #NotANurseBut while juggling own cancer treatment, cant recruit carers, ( there r non) wot sleep? Wot community of care? #DontNeedACuppa
And why does government rely on unpaid carers to hold the system together while treating support for carers as something that can be cut?
We’re not volunteers filling in the gaps. We’re the gaps being filled.

Beds for carers caring 24/7 on adult wards .. and they wonder why our bodies are fucked I’ve had 2 frozen shoulders one fucked knee and live on pain killers n deep heat patches
ALT Sheet and pillow on a hospital ward floor
ALT Hard upright chair with pillow and sheets on adult ward . the sleeping arrangement for a carer
ALT A windowsill only place for carers to sleep while caring for adult son in hospital
ALT Cobbling together a bed from hard upright chair and sons wheelchair while caring for him in hospital on an adult ward
#CarersWeek2026 draws to a close I pose a Question; When will hospitals become a caring community? when will Unpaid carers be treated with dignity & respect ? when will carers not sleep on floors or hard chairs when will they be treated as part of the team around their loved one
