@Mglsd_UG @BettyAmongiMP @Parliament_Ug @JoelSsenyonyi please investigate the working conditions of workers at PRAMUKH STEEL UGANDA. This is a steel fabricating company in jinja Kayunga road . A lot is happening at this company right from recruiting to working conditions and safety of the workers. It has come to my notice that employees at this company are working in harsh conditions yet little pay.
First and foremost employees are not recorded in the company system, so whatever happens to you the company is less concerned. On top of that, the working hours are not followed ,for one to live his working station, he has to wait for another one for the next shift. For example, if one worked day, he doesn't live until the one working night has come because the company machines don't stop.
Despite working in a place of high temperatures, employees have limited access to drinking water and they have to pay for the water whereby each employee is deducted 500Ugshs from the 7000Ugshs they earn daily of which 1000 UgShs is deducted for lunch ( a slice of posho and bean). And on pay day ( employees are paid weekly)each employee is deducted NSSF money and it's by force they're told they will have access to their money after 50 years.
Once an employee falls into the hot furnace and dies, those around or who have witnessed are bribed up to 500,000/= to keep silent. Most of the workers here are from Northern Uganda.
There is no safety and the working conditions are not favorable yet little pay. Something has to be done.
Am ready to bring evidence and employees testifying. I came in peace
