Almost every jurisdiction in the US has promulgated rules to prevent the "poaching of their horse population" to other jurisdictions- except Ky- The affect of this is sad for smaller trainers, field size etc. What is really ludicrous is the KY racing comm does nothing, simply out of fear of being sued by Jerry Jamgotchian for violation of Commerce- a case they have already won. So easily pierced - #followthemoney. Does anyone really believe she has over 4 million dollars?
Linda Rice has claimed $4,020,000 worth of horses since Nov. 27, 2025. After adding another $260,000 in claims at Churchill Downs on Saturday, her Kentucky total now stands at $2,094,000: CD: $1.494M KEE: $530K TP: $70K Most claimed off of trainer: Joe Sharp

This is an incredible read , w Mr Pincus calling Mountaineer “ progressive”???- Just now working on Hockey Dad (graded stakes winning tb) was sent to Burton Sipp at Mountaineer ( yep- he’s licensed there) and ended up at the Stroud kill pen-( he’s safe). I’ve lost count of how many horses Sipp has sent to kill pens. #progression

Would almost be comical IF it was not so nonsensical and ridiculous? Folks from NY, who do not support KY racing, taking over a million dollars worth of horses from KY at the claim box this year alone, NOW will get paid an extra 8500 by NYRA to deplete the KY horse population ( are you listening Ellis?) to take to NY.

the absurdity of the broken claiming rules in Ky? In 30 days, between Keeneland, Churchill, Linda Rice who races primarily in NY, has now spent 910,000 allegedly of her own money to claim horses that will leave KY for NY- training horses in NY must be very lucrative. The sad part is now trying to get some of these from Ky last year, that were voided claims in NY back home from The Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

LOVE Cherie, and LOVE the story----take a look at this one incredible story- all due to @ChurchillDowns arranging it- thank you - kindness is indeed the life and soul of not only horse racing but life😇
Bob Weihe, an 89-year-old Kentucky Derby fan in hospice, had a wish to attend the race one more time. It would be his 80th Kentucky Derby in a row and a historic one.

appreciative of dive into data here BUT, unless one "understands" private vet scratches, the wait to get off vets list , the expense for owners etc, the data does not accurately reflect the reality. NOBODY, or very few ever want to hurt a horse but talking to more of the truly great horsemen on the backside might tell a different story----
Kentucky’s horsemen and regulators are clashing as scratch rates rise; available statistics offer hints as to how effective the scratches have been. Details: tinyurl.com/7td2fsfa

How can ANYONE be critical of @hisa_us Newly formed HERF - equine recovery foundation (501c) saving horses from euthanasia that have treatable injuries, that are unaffordable to connections ??? It’s a heroic program. ( full transparency- I am a member). But entire industry should be behind it.
Congress did not task HISA with a narrow, box-checking exercise of the kind the national HBPA CEO Eric Hamelback described in a recent op/ed. Read more: tinyurl.com/yc53kvzn

If anyone still has doubt as to the Passion, determination and heartfelt leadership in todays environment- look no more than this below. @RepoleStable - Mike is actively doing everything to get the SAFE act passed - while everyone else has paid it "lip service" for over 20 years - THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart Mike and @PatCummingsNTA
Maybe it was coincidence 😂 but funny how the “do-nothing” entities suddenly found their voice last week on the SAFE Act. In a few months, @PatCummingsNTA and I have made more real progress than the “trust us” crowd at The @JockeyClub and @BreedersCup have made in 20 years. Three months ago, after doing the work and having real, gut-wrenching conversations with the people who actually fight for these horses after racing, we knew this wasn’t optional. This had to get done. So we acted. Hired Chris Heyde. Sent Pat to D.C. multiple times. We stopped waiting. I personally funded everything and started pushing. This sport and industry needs results not “talk.” And credit where it’s due, I want thank Congressman @RepAndyBarr from Kentucky, currently running for U.S. Senate, and his team for stepping up and being incredibly helpful. This can and must get done. Not someday. Now!!!!! 🐎💪

As far as I know- lobbyists, politicians in DC have not heard from The Jockey Club, or other leaders in racing Re: The Safe Act ( stopping the shipment of horses for slaughter ) it’s @RepoleStable and @PatCummingsNTA initiating and working on this - thank you ❤️. Hopefully everybody will unite for this long overdue support
Wrapping two days in DC and a dozen meetings with legislators and staffers on the SAFE Act. Very optimistic on a path forward to finally get this done. Also great to see @jockeyclub and @breederscup got on board publicly (and all on the same day as our meetings).

I firmly believe w the monies of the Jockey club , w the well connected and monied individuals in this industry - the Safe Act should have passed years ago - the political stature, money , lobbyists could get it done just as they got HISA passed- the only reason it’s not -? It never seems to be a priority of the “ leaders” and “ organizations” in horse racing .

RE: Ginger Brew and particularly listening to @Steve_Byk who eloquently and informatively explained what happened, as to the facts. I, myself have learned the hard way, the roadmap of rehoming horses: I see so many seminars, podcasts, in horse racing, what is missing is any information on this or the realities of rehoming and the demons lurking out there. My points with Ginger Brew is the very real probems of what happens to way too many broodmares, hence the need for those that have not been in the trenches (assuming they care) how important rehoming is in the environment we now live in.

I’ve never disseminated this- but as to changing 👇🏻👇🏻this rule? Years ago I had a video of à la breeder assisting in weighing two stallions to direct ship to slaughter: I notified the Jockey Club as to his rights to register . I was told they could take no action unless the state did (La). I sent an email to the La breeders assoc w the unequivocal proof - their reply “ it’s complicated”. Ironically - here we sit years later - zero action - zero change - nothing——- you be the judge -
Here’s a novel idea - the @jockeyclub - change one rule as a registry - saying you can’t act unless the state takes action - change the rule - if direct evidence shows you discard your broodmares to kill auctions/kill buyers- your privileges to register are revoked - how simple is that?
