Prime video dropped a series Raakh with main lead Ali Fazal, claiming it’s inspired by the 1978 Ranga-Billa case where 2 siblings, Geeta(16) & Sanjay Chopra (14) , were kidnapped, tortured, raped and murdered in Delhi. In actual documentation, the investigation was led by SHO V.P. Gupta, his assistant Ram Chander and Police Commissioner J.N. Chaturvedi. No personal caste battles were the headlines of the case but in this series, they rewrote the entire investigation team into a neat identity politics story. Ali Fazal plays SI JP Jatav, a struggling Dalit cop… the underdog hero. His retired hawaldar father constantly bows his head coz of past caste discrimination and still cooks mutton for his upper-caste bosses to stay in their good books. JP keeps talking about Ambedkar and keeps photos of Phule, Ambedkar in his house and quietly battles caste discrimination in the police force. His main assistant is a good guy who’s Muslim, the lazy & useless hawaldar is a Brahmin, the honest journalist helping the case is a Muslim woman. Even one of the criminals playing Ranga-Billa is shown as a villager from Haryana. They took a real horrific crime that needed no extra seasoning and turned it into an oppression pyramid:- Dalit hero Muslim allies = honest & hardworking, Brahmin = lazy deadweight. Why do they need to inject caste-communal-area propaganda to tell a tragedy based on real events that’s already terrifying to the guts ?

The selective outrage is amusing. During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Returning Officer in Birbhum rejected the nomination of BJP’s candidate, a former IPS officer, over a No Dues Certificate that had to be issued by Mamata Banerjee’s government. He approached the Supreme Court. The petition was dismissed. BJP had to field a replacement candidate at the last minute. In Basirhat, however, the Returning Officer accepted the nomination of the TMC candidate even though most fields in his form were marked “NA” and he too had not submitted a No Dues Certificate despite being a former MP. His nomination sailed through. BJP challenged the matter through an election petition in the High Court. The case is now before the Supreme Court. Curiously, the same voices now lamenting the lack of an immediate remedy were nowhere to be seen then. No accusations of Mamata Banerjee influencing district administrations. No claims of the ECI acting in concert with the ruling party. The legal position was the same then as it is now. Of course, it helps explain the sudden concern when the complainant’s wife is a TMC MP and he himself appears to be aspiring for a Rajya Sabha berth.
IMPORTANT: SC dismisses Meenakshi Natarajan plea on rejection of her RS nomination, says she must file election petition in HC. A petition like this will take minimum 2-3 years , followed by appeal by which the RS term will be over!@ECISVEEP will take hands-off approach saying matter is sub judice! Net net: a returning officer can act in a prima facie arbitrary manner to disqualify a candidate with no immediate legal remedy. What a ‘masterstroke’!🙏

Facts: 1. Your latest offensive campaign for “Amazon Now” features a person dressed and portrayed as Aryabhata - the revered ancient Indian mathematician-astronomer, reducing this towering civilizational figure to a comic corporate mascot desperately “searching for zero delivery charges”. This trivialization and mockery of a national saint-scholar has caused widespread anguish across the Hindu community. 2. This is not an isolated incident but part of a long and disturbing pattern of cultural insensitivity and arrogance displayed by Amazon. Your platforms have repeatedly hosted, promoted, and profited from products and content that blatantly insult Hindu Deities (Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, on toilet seats, yoga mats, footwear), the Indian National Flag on doormats, and other sacred symbols. 3. Even after public outrage, police complaints, and your previous apologies (including in the Tandav web series produced by Amazon Prime Video), you have failed to mend your ways and continue to exhibit utter disregard for Indian cultural and religious sensitivities. Withdraw, delete, and permanently remove all versions of the offensive “Aryabhata - Amazon Now” advertisement from every platform (YouTube, Instagram, X, website, TV, etc.). 2. Issue a public, unconditional, and unqualified apology on all official Amazon India social media handles, website homepage, and leading national newspapers, explicitly acknowledging the hurt caused to Hindu sentiments and India’s heritage. 3. Furnish a written undertaking that no future advertisements, campaigns, or product listings on your platforms will ever trivialize, demean, or mock Indian historical figures, Hindu deities, or national symbols. Final Warning: Take notice that failure to comply with the above demands within the stipulated 48 hours shall force us to initiate all available legal remedies without any further notice. Indian worker Vipin Kumar has been awarded honorary citizenship by the city of Craiova, Romania, after he jumped into an icy lake and saved the life of a 5-year-old girl. 🇮🇳🇷🇴 For nearly 30 minutes, he held the child above freezing water until rescuers arrived. This is the side of Indians the world rarely sees in headlines: courage, sacrifice, compassion and humanity. Yet stories like this seldom receive the attention that anti-India narratives do. No coverage from Western media outlets. As India's envoy noted, Vipin's actions embodied the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam "The World is One Family." ❤️

Will the Chinese accept analysis of the deficiencies of their system from an Indian in order to learn from us or not to lose our friendship? Or an American or an European ? We are generally receiving lessons about our political, economic, social, cultural, religious and other deficiencies from western governments, media, think tanks, academics etc. This entire article is written from a very defensive and almost apologetic mindset.
My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress looks at a cultural phenomenon more and more foreigners are noticing: the reflexive desire of the argumentative Indian for victory, rather than learning, in every conversational engagement. I ask why this is so and why it needs to change

In 1947 the Paki invaders comprising of multiple muslim groups and ethnicities like Hazaras, Pathans, Ahmadiyas, Punjabis, Pashtoons and others looted, raped and killed residents of undivided J&K indiscriminately. Only the non-Kashmiri muslims (mostly Shia) like those in Poonch, Rajauri, Mirpur etc. who joined the outsider muslims in the plunder of fellow J&K residents escaped relatively unscathed. Now pakistani state is massacring descendants of a bunch of these non-Kashmiri muslims in a different manner. Only thing I feel bad about it is most people calling the area Kashmir and people Kashmiri. Neither of it is true. Ahmadiyas, Hazaras and a few others got persecuted by fellow paki muslims already. Now it is the turn of PoJK residents.

Only a handful of countries on earth can build this. India just delivered seven of them ahead of schedule. Nobody is talking about it. They should be. What PM Modi is standing next to is a 700 MWe nuclear steam generator. Built entirely in India at L&T's facility in Hazira, Gujarat. Most people will scroll past this image without understanding what they are looking at. That would be a mistake. A nuclear steam generator is not a component you order from a catalogue. It sits at the absolute heart of a nuclear reactor, transferring heat from the reactor core to produce the steam that generates electricity. Building one requires metallurgy, precision engineering and manufacturing capability that takes decades to develop and cannot be rushed or imported. The countries that can produce it at scale can be counted on two hands. India just confirmed its place on that list. L&T's Hazira facility has manufactured more than 42 steam generators for India's nuclear sector. Seven have already been delivered to NPCIL ahead of schedule as part of India's indigenous 10 into 700 MWe PHWR programme. India's nuclear power capacity is projected to reach 22.38 gigawatts by 2031. Ahead of schedule. On an indigenous nuclear programme. In a sector where delays are not the exception but the global standard. Missiles get the headlines. Fighter jets get the documentaries. Defence exports get the investor attention. But this is what industrial power actually looks like. The unglamorous, enormously complex, decades in the making capability to manufacture the components that sit inside the systems that power a civilisation. Countries that can build nuclear steam generators do not depend on anyone else for their energy future. They build it themselves. India just built seven. Delivered them early. And barely anyone noticed.

Indian Cattle tells an unspoken story of Out of India migration🔥 Why? Because cattle cannot just walk outside of India and go all over these places! It needs Indian cattle herders, real people to move out of India with these cattle! This is creating nightmare in the Aryan Invasion Theory camp! Indian humped cattle – the indicine lineage (Bos indicus) – were domesticated in the Indus–Sarasvati region around 8000–7000 BCE, with early evidence from Neolithic Mehrgarh. From this core zone, they spread steadily across the subcontinent between 7000–4000 BCE, becoming integral to early agro-pastoral economies. By 3000–2000 BCE, indicine cattle moved eastward into Southeast Asia, contributing to the formation of regional zebu populations, and by 2000–1500 BCE they had entered parts of China, where they interacted with local taurine lineages. A further major expansion carried Indian indicine cattle westward into Africa beginning around 2000 BCE, with multiple waves continuing into the first millennium CE; this movement profoundly reshaped East African cattle genetics, producing the taurine–indicine admixture visible today. Thus, over several millennia, cattle domesticated in northwest India radiated outward across Asia and Africa, leaving a durable genetic and economic footprint that still defines tropical cattle populations. Taurine cattle – the humpless lineage (Bos taurus) – were first domesticated in the Near East around 10,500–10,000 BCE from local aurochs populations in the Fertile Crescent. They expanded with Neolithic farming communities into southeastern Europe by 7000–6000 BCE, and across most of Europe over the next millennium. A southern dispersal carried taurine cattle into North Africa by 6000–5000 BCE, and progressively into Sub-Saharan Africa between 4000–2000 BCE, where they later encountered and hybridised with incoming indicine cattle. Eastward movements brought taurine herds into Central Asia by 5000–3000 BCE, contributing to later Eurasian pastoral systems. No evidence of any of them entering India! This agains weakens Aryan Invasion Theory or it's weakened version Aryan Migration Theory! All silly political games played with human genetics in scholarship arena now checkmated by cow genetics!

Let us talk about you, Mr. Sawhney. You joined the Army and were later caught in compromising situations, after which you were reportedly removed from one of the country's elite organizations in disgrace. Since then, it appears that you have tried to deflect attention from your own past by frequently criticizing the Indian Army. Your books and podcasts often come across as being sympathetic to China and Pakistan. Through your commentary, you seem intent on creating a negative image of the very organization responsible for safeguarding the country's territorial integrity and national security. Such tactics may attract attention in the short term, but actions have consequences. If those consequences eventually catch up with you, the nation will be watching, and you may find there is nowhere left to hide.
Retirement of Upendra Dwivedi as the army chief on June 30 is both bad & good news for him. Bad, because he tried very hard to become the CDS. Sadly, he did not realise that closeness to the NSA was the only qualification for the post. Good, because now he can scream to his heart's content how he would have altered Pakistan's geography & history in Sindoor.2. No one will now give a damn to his nonsense. Upendra hugely downgraded the seriousness of his office by such stupid utterance. He sounded more like a politician than a military commander who had done his war appreciation!

There is something common amongst @DKShivakumar, @CMMadhyaPradesh , @revanth_anumula @Bhupendrapbjp All of them have earned big money from real estate businesses before becoming Chief Minister. Land dealings and politics go hand in hand. If you study carefully, if compared to 70s and 80s, now more and more politicians are entering active politics after making money in building construction, real estate development, land dealings or turnkey infrastructure projects. Most of these MPs, MLAs and Municipal councillors have made their first million from ‘building line.’ Then they expand to many other sectors to make billions. Then, to protect their billions they join active politics. Out of 28 State Chief ministers it will be easier to count who has never earn or their family has not earned money out of construction business. Barring few exceptions it’s likely that one family member of current lot of CMs will be found deep into land dealings or construction. @CMMadhyaPradesh Mohan Yadav’s family remains in news for their ongoing hyper real estate business activities. @DKShivakumar is extraordinarily rich. He has earned from real estate, too. It will be interesting to watch ‘big time builder’ turned politician now leading the great state of Karnataka. In his nomination form before @ECISVEEP @DKShivakumar has filed list of his companies involved in construction business. Have a look. myneta.info/Karnataka2023/ca…

Will Sabeer Bhatia advise the Jews to "appreciate" the Holocaust chapter of their history? As a matter of fact, only because the Jews remember the history and said "Never again", have they been able to build Israel and all its technological prowess and they have also revived the Hebrew language. Bharat will do all of it - we will rebuild our great civilization, we will remember our history (Never again!) and honor the memory of our ancestors, and we will also revive our great languages.
India should be able to appreciate every chapter of its history without feeling threatened by it. The Mughals left behind magnificent architecture, art, cuisine, language, and culture. The British left institutions, infrastructure, and the English language—which opened doors for millions, including me. I would not have achieved what I have without mastering English. A mature civilization acknowledges both the achievements and the mistakes of its past. Yet today, too much energy is spent hating what came before us instead of building on it. We should be grateful to the generations that laid the foundations we inherited, learn from history, and focus our attention on creating a better future. The future is full of opportunity. Let’s embrace it rather than remain trapped in endless battles over the past.

It will be safe bet to take that IF (read IF) in 2029, @narendramodi gets fourth term to rule he will move forward to withdraw the privilege of Lyuten’s bungalows enjoyed by Union cabinet ministers and other powerful people. Surprised that his government has taken such a long time to shake up @DelhiGymkhana . Since long, the communication between the government and @DelhiGymkhana is on. There were thick rumours of take over of not only gymkhana but many other powerful and prestigious institutions falling into the proposed development plan of few square kilometres space around India Gate and Rashtrapti Bhavan. So much is written about the draft proposal to change landscape of New Delhi from the bank of Yamuna to RB. Only the education, health and defence related institutions and the properties coming under the common good were considered safe. Read @IndianExpress interview of @narendramodi of May, 2019 to understand political context. ((indianexpress.com/elections/…)) That will help recall the purpose behind the government’s few decisions. Legal issues apart, these actions to rebuild Pragati maidan complex, build new parliament and taking over of invaluable land for the common good is fundamental to Modi’s politics. Many of us are getting diverted by debating aesthetics of these new constructions but forgetting how the battle between @BJP4India versus @INCIndia has certain trajectory. BJP is having an upper hand, right now. The leader who never had a permanent residential address in last 60 plus years of his life knows well the importance of the public property and uses of it in his direct communication with the public.
Interesting column by @virsanghvi on the Delhi gym controversy. Might I add a piece of trivia: a few years ago, a leading Mumbai club was almost taken over by the Govt of Maharashtra. How was it resolved? By ensuring that sufficient IAS and IPS officers got membership! Moral: govts change, the bureaucrats remain the permanent power ‘elite’. By the way, wonder what our ‘rulers’ have to say about the expensive renovations in so many MP/ministers bungalows and offices lately. And why won’t that ever be debated beyond the predictable Lutyens elite trope? Truth is, Angrez chale gaye, Cong chali gayi, now a ‘new’ BJP elite has taken over. Vilfredo Pareto’s ‘circulation of elites’ theory is alive and well in the national capital and beyond!

Today, I submitted a written request to Union Minister for Minority Affairs @KirenRijiju ji seeking the exercise of the Centre's supervisory powers to remove properties that have been illegally uploaded on the UMEED portal. The Waqf Board registered 404 acres of Munambam land on the portal without complying with the provisions of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) framework and the applicable provisions of the Waqf Act. Under the law, only the Mutawalli is authorised to upload Waqf property records to the UMEED portal. In this case, that authority rests with Farook College. Yet, without following due process, the Waqf Board unilaterally registered the property. These violations have been formally brought to the attention of the Government of India, and we expect appropriate action at the earliest. The people of Munambam deserve justice, and we will continue to pursue every legal and administrative avenue until it is delivered. #APAKADAMPolitics

Funny to see that she questions about press freedom in India when more than 80% of the Indian journalists run their business by abusing the PM and the BJP. This is exactly why the Hon'ble PM prefers addressing the nation directly and interacting with normal citizens through various innovative methods and podcasts, instead of communicating with the masses through journalists who simply act as brokers of their paymasters.
I question your lack of appetite for questions and your lack of appetite for press freedom in India. I agree we should cover India more and closer.
