Cool to come across a Grey Phalarope earlier this week. I nearly walked past the tiny waded during my early morning walk along the Ceredigion coast. Luckily it stayed all day and good friend Paul Leafe got these images. In Welsh Llydandroed - ‘Widefoot’ due to its lobed toes🏴👍
With these westerlies this week, a few unfortunate seabirds ended up well inland. Came across this grounded Fulmar on a road with @GowerClare while working. Big thanks to @glaslynbirder for arranging to get the bird back to the coast. Lucky I had my PPE on, it had a nasty nip 😣
A cracking morning in the Ceredigion coast at Llanrhystyd. Grey Phalarope, ad. Yellow-legged Gull, 4 Common Sand, 2 Knot, 2 Sanderling, Golden Plover, 160 Mediterranean Gulls, 32 Ringed Plover, Whimbrel, 24 Turnstone and this Oystercatcher that must be 15 years old by now! ☺️👍
A walk along Llanrhystyd beach to Llansanffraidd, Ceredigion this morning came up trumps with a very tame Grey Phalarope. Still here as I type. Spending quality one to one time with this little beauty. 2 Knot, 2 Sanderling, Golden Plover, Bl t Godwit and 20 Med Gulls too☺️👍
Spent 15 minutes with this superb Otter on the Glaslyn this morning in the pouring rain. A special moment. Video taken with handheld iPhone really doesn’t do it justice. ☺️👍

This cracker of an ‘LBBG’ at Ryton Pools NR, Warks this afternoon. The most ‘Baltic’ looking gull I’ve ever seen. Stood out a mile amongst the 300 large gulls and blacker than the 3 GBBG present! Cattle Egret, Smew and several Green Woodpeckers too @WestMidBirdClub@WKWT
A chilled morning at Brandon Marsh NR near Coventry this morning - European White-fronted Goose, 2 Green Sandpiper, Great White Egret, 3 Water Rail, Hobby, 2 Red Kites and several Cetti’s Warblers. Nice to meet the friendly local patchers there @WestMidBirdClub@WKWT
Bingo! I thought I’d left it too late to see Brown Hairstreak but this female showed at the superb Ryton Wood Meadows NR today. A first for me! Thanks to Tara for showing me several tiny eggs too - amazing. Overhead a family of noisy Hobbies ☺️👍 @savebutterflies@BCWarwickshire
Great to catch up with @AlanDaviesbirds and @DylanMEdwards1 for some birding and a coffee this morning. Despite dipping a Dotterel, good to see Goldcrests and Chiffchaffs arriving on the Orme. Spotted Redshank, Curlew Sandpiper, Greenshank and 2 Dunlin at @RSPBConwy too☺️👍
Cracking views of a 1st winter Grey Phalarope at @Natures_Voice Morfa Dinlle RSPB this afternoon. Even got to see its feet at one point. In Welsh 🏴 Llydandroed - translates to ‘Widefoot’. Loved its bobbing while preening. Thanks to Simon HR for putting the news out 👍
The two long staying juvenile Curlew Sandpipers still showing well at @RSPBConwy this morning. They are very faithful to their small patch of mud. Also Spotshank, Greenshank, 4 Blackwit, 5 GWE, Common Sand also lots of warblers inc. Garden Warbler Lesser Whitethroat ☺️👍
The 2 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers at @RSPBConwy were upstaged by a nice adult Cattle Egret this morning. A reserve tick for me! Also 8 Common Snipe showing well in the rain. Down at Porthmadog Cob, 9 Greenshank, 33 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Med Gulls were the highlights 👍🏴
