you can tell how someone’s never worked at a production scale app by them seething at other people’s bugs

Adding “triplexes threaten migratory birds” to the list of eye-roll-inducing excuses. Right next to “duplexes threaten mountain lions” and “bike lanes are bad for the environment”.

Airlines have tested every single conceivable boarding strategy and have determined that the most efficient one is to board by amount of profit per ticket. Sorry to the engineers who weren’t consulted for their opinions here.
Feel like a big reason boarding planes takes so long is because the aisle middle seat people have to get out when the window seat person comes Wouldnt it be faster if airlines boarded the window seat people from back to front first? then aisle, then window

there are 9,000 problems in life that have the solution "know more local people" and people will do literally anything except spend time on that

Just watched two school kids get run over by a driver that rolled a right turn on red. Notice where the shoe is compared to their bodies. Shocker the “high visibility” crosswalk didn’t protect them. 😳 75 ft crosswalks and NTORs have no place in school zones.

My two biggest learnings doing startup sales: 1. Every question from a prospect should become a blog post 2. Record every sales call so you can rewatch it later

Contrast with @GovWhitmer's @MDOT_MetroDet project to replace I-375 with a giant, dangerous surface level highway instead of actually "reconnecting" the Black neighborhoods we bulldozed to build it in the first place.

Dangerous to whom?
Don't be that person! Installing speed humps is not only illegal but dangerous. WCRC removed these from a local neighborhood. If you are interested in our Neighborhood Traffic Management Program click the link bit.ly/43Gktio to begin the legal process.

The IEA will later this month publish extrapolation that on current EV trends 5mbd of oil demand will be displaced by 2030, says @fbirol in this oped. Petrol demand peaked 2021 and all transport fuels will peak by 2025. ft.com/content/5b337285-9b67…

The US actually built a robust safety net in the pandemic, and now we've basically dismantled it. Fantastic graphic from @clairecm and @aliciaparlap nytimes.com/interactive/2023…

The nastiest and longest raging product debate we have internally is whether to ask for coordinates in lat,lon (y,x) or lon,lat (x,y) in our tasking UI... Who are you and where do you stand?
21% (Not GIS Savvy) lat,lon
7% (Not GIS Savvy) lon,lat
42% (GIS Savvy) lat,lon
30% (GIS Savvy) lon,lat
