Best friends @mannyfidel, @birthdaymoney, and @devanjjoseph use their podcast @nosuchthingshow to settle silly debates with expert research, such as: 🍽️ Can you cure picky eating? 🐶 Are dogs happier in the suburbs? 🚗 Why are headlights so bright? apple.co/NOSUCHTHING

This feels like a red line. Pigs are perfect breeding grounds for viruses to adapt to humans. Generally speaking, humans have one kind of receptor and birds have another. Pigs have both.
#H5N1 #birdflu has been found in a pig in Oregon, @USDA and the state's Ag Dept announced today. The significance of this is unclear at this point, but in general, H5 in pigs would not be a good thing. statnews.com/2024/10/30/h5n1…

I had the pleasure of editing this feature by @andreavbecker on the blossoming industry of men's health clinics prescribing testosterone to young men. Crucially, these clinics don't cater to trans men, they provide gender-affirming care for cis men. businessinsider.com/young-me…

Pitch tip of the day: Your email subject should never just say "pitch" or "pitches" or "looking to write." Give me some teasers or a hint at what's inside! (Ex — PITCH: The time I ate a $3,000 burger on a bucket-list cruise then got stranded in Iceland)

I’m writing about the resurgence of slurs (e.g. r-word) among liberal circles. If you identify as liberal/progressive and have 1. heard these used among friends or 2. felt more comfortable using them yourself, I’d love to speak to you. You can DM or reach me via my email (in bio)

NEW: @bettanneta has spent years digging into Miss USA, the beleaguered pageant that is crumbling under the weight of its own scandals. It's a juicy, excellently reported story that says a lot about the evolution of celebrity. Take a look >>> businessinsider.com/miss-usa…

Hot take: People who think this is Botox have clearly never seen a contouring tutorial. Make-up contains multitudes. Botox could never set in that fast.

Last year, she shared why she loved turtles. “Because they have to stick their neck out before they move forward.” Garcia laughed. “That's what you've had to do your whole career,” he told her. “Boy oh boy, did she stick her neck out to educate America” shorturl.at/H39iB
