Introducing Claude Fable 5: a Mythos-class model that we’ve made safe for general use. Its capabilities exceed those of any model we’ve ever made generally available.

if you aren't already on pnpm (which i don't know why not), now is a good time to switch.

Boris created Claude Code. His point here is important - when AI handles the code generation, the engineer's value shifts to the decisions above the code: 1. what do we build? 2. why? for whom? 3. and how it all fits together. The bottleneck was always judgment, taste, and systems thinking. AI just made that more obvious.
Replying to @big_duca
Someone has to prompt the Claudes, talk to customers, coordinate with other teams, decide what to build next. Engineering is changing and great engineers are more important than ever.

To the idiots blabbering blithely about Greenland and “US doesn’t need NATO,” do us all a favor and check what US power projection requires and what losing our presence in Europe, with all the bases and logistical infrastructure to support global deployments, would entail. Next check what it would cost us to man all the resulting gaps in the Atlantic and Arctic defense, and explain where we’re going to build substitute ports and bases if we wish to retain a foothold in the Middle East. I know you people seem to think that the U.S. magically teleports entire brigades thousands of miles away or that aircraft carriers can just float around for years on their own, but this is truly unserious bullshit. If you thought America was spending “too much” on defense because of NATO, just wait until you learn what we would have to spend without NATO to maintain even a fraction of our global influence. Losing NATO — which is what will happen if we attempt to coerce Denmark (read Article I) — will be the surest and fastest way to global decline. Now, if you are Russia or China, you would surely welcome this. But if you are an American, you wouldn’t. The administration is either bluffing or they are incomparable idiots the likes of which we have never seen in our history, or we will have to revisit that kompromat idea that I have always resisted.

this is a catastrophe. StackOverflow provided data to LLMs, LLMs replaced StackOverflow, and now no new Q&A hub exists to provide fresh data. it’s a self-undermining causal loop, like mold growing on food, consuming it, and dying once the food is gone.
RIP Stack Overflow.

Ok, so Republicans just introduced a 900 page bill none of them have read. But my team is going through it line by line and on this 🧵you can see the hidden provisions we found. Will update all day. 1/ NEW Medicaid cuts, so now 17 million - instead of 16M - lose health care.

Let’s talk about the guy running Trump’s shiny new DOGE department: In just 28 days since the election, he’s made $47.8 BILLION, that’s $71 MILLION per hour. To put it in real terms, that’s enough to pay a year’s worth of Social Security to 3,102 people who’ve already paid into the system in one hour. Let that sink in. And how does he pull it off? He lives off borrowed funds, pays rock-bottom interest rates, avoids realizing capital gains that’d be taxed, and shells out just 3.27% in federal income tax. Meanwhile, regular folks don't have that luxury, do they? That's the sad reality. DOGE, His “efficiency” gig, isn’t about saving taxpayer money or cutting waste, it’s about making him richer and gutting the safety nets regular folks depend on. You think Social Security and Medicare are untouchable? Think again. He’s the guy holding the knife, with Vivek Ramaswamy cheering him on like a kid at a carnival. They’re pitching $2 trillion in cuts, but let’s do the math. Even if he torched every federal agency, NASA, FDA, the whole lot, he’d still fall short. What’s left? Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The lifelines. The stuff that keeps seniors fed, pays hospital bills, and ensures you can retire with dignity. But he calls it “waste,” because he’s never needed it. And let’s talk conflicts of interest. He’s sitting on billions in federal contracts, but DOGE isn’t cutting those. Oh no, space toys will be just fine. Meanwhile, federal workers who inspect your food, keep your planes safe, or protect your retirement are on the chopping block. He doesn’t care about efficiency, he cares about control. He’ll squeeze every drop from the government, rake in profits, and leave you wondering why your Social Security check’s late or why there’s no one to inspect the bridge you drive over every day. And Trump? He’s just happy to hand him the keys to the vault. DOGE isn’t a watchdog; it’s a wrecking ball aimed at everything that actually works in government. And when the dust settles, he and his billionaire pals will be fine. It’s the rest of us who’ll be left scrambling. Don’t buy the con.

DAMASCUS: 1000s of prisoners have been freed from Sednaya prison, now flooding the streets, an monumental moment. For many, the frantic search begins, desperate to know if their loved ones are among the living or the lost. Either way, the "human slaughterhouse" is no more.
