I'm tired of: - getting served up garbage (and hate) I wasn't looking for. (And ads, so many ads.) - this platform being used to dunk on people rather than connect people and ideas. - paying for (what used to be) useful content with my attention. 1/2

If you're planning on attending a conference, ASK how speakers are selected. Do they use a "blind" call for speakers/content, do they make explicit effort to hear a diverse set of voices, etc? Vote with your $£€¥...
This is truly awful. There are so many great and diverse speakers out there so insist that conference organisers make that spread

AI is the exact opposite of a solution in search of a problem. It's the solution to far more problems than its developers even knew existed.

I moved away 25 years ago, but my heart is still in PA. Thinking about running for Senate myself.

Fascinating thread about the potential decay of digital data from my favorite group of long-term thinkers.
The Dead Sea scrolls are still readable 2 millennia after their creation — yet the expected shelf life of a DVD is just 100 years. Without maintenance, most digital information will be lost in just a few decades. How might we secure our data so that it survives for generations?
