The history of early computer art has a problem. The women were there. Vera Molnar. Lillian Schwartz. Joan Truckenbrod.
They wrote the code. They made the work. They built the theory. History just looked the other way.
Time to fix this.

I recently inherited my grandfather's old manual drill press so on the weekend I hooked it up to play Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move. I'll share a gameplay video that contains another twist soon.😉

It's International Coffee Day! ☕️ Here's a Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move controller I made from my parent's old coffee grinder for Maker Faire back in 2016. It uses an old mouse scroll-wheel to pick up the rotation.

Tips: Menu controls are arrows and Enter. The instructions are a must. If you find the game too fast for your liking, you can slow it down using Ctrl F11 (and speed it back up with Ctrl F12).
Thank you, everyone. This officially concludes regular, active use of this account by the Mistigris computer art collective. It's well past time to move on, so please consider following us as "mistfunk" just about anywhere else. linktr.ee/mistfunk
Mistigram: Happy #Easter! This #ANSIart portrait of #JesusChrist, titled Love is Vulnerability, was drawn by @mavenmob, winning 1st place in the @FlashpartyOk 2025 demoparty's extended text art compo. It was also included in the recent unthemed MIST0226 artpack collection.
ALT Under pink lighting, a long-haired man wearing a crown of thorns gazes uncertainly past the viewer into the distance, the right side of his face dissolving into dithered shadow.
Mistigram: While we're still in a nonsensical #AprilFools mentality, here's an exceedingly foolish scene of #AliceInWonderland's #MadHatterTeaParty, drawn in #ShiftJIS by kalcha. It was included in the MIST0117 artpack collection released nine years ago!
ALT Along one side of a long tea table are three characters, a hatmaker, a hare and a dormouse, prepared to shortly rotate positions at the table.
Mistigram: I expect that this offbeat #teletext screen, like many others, was drawn by @illarterate for inclusion in Rail Slave Games' game #SelfieSistersOfTheAmnioticLens. It was included in the nonsensical MIST0418 April Fool's artpack released eight years ago this month.
ALT A visibly vibrating cup emblazoned with a pink R (for rubber) jiggles vigorously.
Mistigram: kick off the change to spring in style, with Mozz's monochrome #ASCIIart adaptation of #AntonRaphaelMengs' ~1769 painting of #Aurora, the dawn. This piece was one of many by Mozz included in last month's unthemed new MIST0226 artpack collection.
ALT A celestial goddess clad in loose-flowing fabric and garlanded in floral blossoms drops flowers down upon the awakening world below
Mistigram: this nifty-galifty portrait (and logo!) of the puppet #XtheOwl from #MrRogersNeighborhood was drawn by @Kirkman and placed 5th in the 2025 #ATASCII art compo of #textmode art for Atari 8-bit computers. It was also included in last month's unthemed MIST0226 artpack.
ALT An owl's face, surrounded by a radiant nimbus, peers to the side beneath hooded eyes. In a separate panel to the right, a giant letter X is traced out in text character textures with crossbars on top and beneath it.
Mistigram: this spooky, Ringu-esque #ANSIart promo for #DeadModemSociety BBS was drawn by Zeus II and included in last month's unthemed new MIST0226 artpack collection.
ALT A human skull with glowing eyes extrudes, Videodrome-like, from the back of an external modem.
Mistigram: here Mozz has adapted to #ASCIIart a real-life tragedy, #FireEscapeCollapse, photographed by #StanleyForman. Two-year-old Tiare Jones, top, survived by landing on her 19-year-old godmother, Diana Bryant, who did not. This piece was included in last month's MIST0226.
ALT A moment frozen in amber, panels of rusted metal fall on the right amidst a building fire, while two people who had been clinging to it for safety tumble through the air on the left. The two-year-old only survives by having her landing impact cushioned by the body of her 19-year-old godmother.
Mistigram: this rather angular purple #ANSIart logo in promotion of Gemenon BBS was drawn by Zeus II and included in last month's unthemed MIST0226 artpack collection.
ALT A rather pointy purple Gemenon logo floats prickly in a yellow miasma, casting diagonal green shadows below as its sharp angles on every letter but the O (it is hard to make an O pointy) cut trails in the haze.
Mistigram: Not only is Kalcha from Japan, but doubling down, in last month's unthemed MIST0226 artpack collection he shared with us over two dozen Japanese #ukiyoe-style portraits, composed entirely from characters in the Japanese #ShiftJIS character set.
