There ought be be much more outrage at the behaviour of the former CEO of the NMC who spent £1/4m of registrant fees to ‘cover-up’ & now has a lucrative career Chairing NHS trusts….

Maybe a good time for registrants to reflect on how previous leadership of the NMC spent their money. I still find this a mind blowing example of how organisational culture go off piste.

Over 50% of my consultations today were related to things not done by other sectors of NHS. Discharged without meds/follow up. Seen in clinic but no clear plan. Wildly abnormal bloods (done by specialist) copied to me to sort. We aren’t perfect. But we can’t keep soaking it up.

“The system is not working for women, babies and families, or for staff” An important update from the Amos Investigation today. Critics will say there is nothing we don’t already know here - but unlike other maternity inquires, this is a diagnosis of the whole system. If now need to translate to the right actions and real, rapid implementation via the Taskforce. theguardian.com/society/2026…

NHS doubled spending over 17 years from roughly £100 billion to £200 billion annually, with no meaningful improvement in the nation's health. Life expectancy has flatlined. Healthy life expectancy is falling. In the most deprived areas, the figures are even worse. This isn't a funding crisis. It's an prioritisation crisis. Until we measure what actually matters, healthy lives rather than medical-activity, we will keep spending more and suffering worse outcomes. Britain will be bust before I die. 1/2 telegraph.co.uk/gift/98713a6…

This is shocking but unfortunately not surprising. It’s a complex issue to solve in large part due to the power differentials in general practice, the devaluing of nursing and lack of nursing voice at decision making levels
@alisonleary1 @louisebrady17 just wanted to highlight some of the challenges GPNs face still! I know how hard you guys are fighting for equal pay and recognition for registered nurses, yet still this goes on! I don’t know how to fix this.

Today’s announcement of a new pilot to fund more ASC nurses to train to prescribe is a vital step in recognising clinical expertise, supporting career development, and improving care. It will also enable timely treatment and strengthen shared care across health & social care.
