Israeli forces destroy sole water pipeline to occupied West Bank village
——
Israeli forces have completely severed the only water supply line to the Palestinian village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, leaving residents entirely without running water. The pipeline was bulldozed on Monday alongside the destruction of surrounding Palestinian agricultural lands during the construction of a new, segregated settler-only road. Located near illegal Israeli settlements, Umm Safa is facing an escalating campaign of violence and land theft aimed at blocking Palestinian farmers from accessing their livelihoods.
The systematic targeting of critical infrastructure comes as the Israeli government expands its state-sponsored settlement enterprise across the occupied West Bank through a campaign of arson, land bulldozing, and military blockades.
Adding state backing to the violence, Hebrew media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet plans to allocate 5.5 million shekels to fund the Hilltop Youth. This extremist settler group resides in illegal outposts and forms the ideological core of the "Price Tag" movement, which carries out violent assaults against Palestinians.
The destruction of Umm Safa’s water supply mirrors a broader, lethal escalation across the occupied West Bank and surrounding areas since October 2023. Official Palestinian figures document that Israeli military and settler attacks have killed at least 1,169 Palestinians, wounded over 12,000 others, and forcibly displaced 33,000 people.
