We found a way to generate manifold, polygonal meshes from feature vectors at points -- even if the vectors are random, you are still guaranteed to get a manifold mesh!
How? Halfedge meshes, permutations, spacetimes, and more! Check out the 🧵. This project was a blast!

Our lab focuses on doing impactful work—we combine computational fabrication, materials science, and sustainable design practices in domains like 3D printing, (smart) textiles, and electronics.
We've been featured in:
1. NPR's All Things Considered: npr.org/2024/07/07/nx-s1-502…
.@cmuhcii alum Mike Rivera has found a way to use spent coffee grounds for 3D printing. From espresso cups to flower pots, his creations are sustainable and surprisingly strong: bit.ly/47JVdKL
As a PhD student, I thought the best supervisors had the most papers or the biggest lab
As a supervisor, I realise that's absolutely not true

Come see our work! And if you're interested in getting a PhD focused on digital fabrication sustainability, chat with me at #chi2024 about joining the @UtilityLabCU
New paper is out!
For the ones into sustainability in #SmartTextiles, I’ll be presenting our Open-source Desktop Biofibers Spinning Machine at @acm_chi
