kallisto sped up RNA-seq quantification by 50x. Now another 50x speedup... quantify hundreds of millions of reads in a few seconds.
This seems too good to be true. But it's true!
Incredible accomplishment by @pmelsted.
Excited to share this preprint that describes my latest work on using GPUs to accelerate processing of RNA-seq data.
The title says it all: "RNA-seq analysis in seconds using GPUs" now on biorxiv biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Really fun to write this paper on spatial transcriptomics with @SarahBuddenborg . It’s an exciting technique that has a lot of potential in Parasitology for new insights.
We welcome the appointment of Academy Fellow Prof @UteRoessner AM as Australian Research Council's new Chief Executive Officer. Prof Roessner was elected a Fellow in 2022. Our profile video below details the unique path that led to her influential role as a biochemist and now in leading the ARC.
The ARC plays a fundamental role in funding basic research, promoting research excellence and supporting our national ambitions.
