Inscribing this as non standard was an adventure!
So honored to be the scribe to onboard
@cathsimard_
Perfect that the photo symbolizes adventure! Cath stopped at nothing to go photograph this remote red lake in Peru. She couldn't let up until she did the adventure she imagined for the shot.
Tech Rant:
When I inscribed my large files in the past I implemented a method to assemble the data across multiple inscriptions by following standard bitcoin transaction which you limited to 400kb. This required me to create custom javascript to render this in a HTML inscription.
I was going to implement this for Bleeding Blues where I could potentially create an image larger than the 4mb block limit. However I started to realize this requires me to write very elegant css to display the image.
I went to first principles and realized we should probably just use slipstream and inscribe it all. Fees are so low its affordable. So thats what we did I asked
@devaloft if chisel suported non standard and it did for power users!
I have bid a lot of inscriptions over the years and its alway a nail bitting experience. Waiting for 10 min blocks getting inscriptions stuck. This base knowledge of pain gave me the pulse to be able to bid for slip stream. They require a fee rate of 2x what mem pool shows.
I got a feel for how to bid then fired off the inscription. Little did I realize the caclulus is different because I was bidding a whole block. I knew this but fully groked it after I was in the mem pool haha.
The worst part is they get 6 blocks a day so imagine inscribing but your block time is 6 hours. Well mara that day decided to take 12. Then right when it happend the fees shot up and we didn't get inclusion. I patiently waited for blocks to get around 3sat/vbyte. Then mara got a block but again no 4 megger.
I was kinda wondering what happend considering our block would have had more revenue. So I reached out to
@PortlandHODL and asked if I need to bid higher. He said it should have been fine so he tweaked stuff on his end so Large inscriptions like this don't get missed.
Overall it was pretty fun bidding a whole block
Welcome to Ordinals Cath!
