FIT implentation in primary care.
FIT can be implemented in general practice de novo to triage patients with high risk symptoms, with good uptake.

FIT is safe in high & low risk patients: a meta-analysis in @LancetRH_Europe that informed @ACPGBI and @BritSocGastro guidelines.

A survey with @mrnigeldsouza of @ACPGBI members in 4 home nations show 95% of regions (69% after pandemic) use FIT in high risk symptoms in some form. Interesting that 41% think FIT increased investigations! 40% want national guidance (🤞coming out soon) doi.org/10.1111/codi.16222

In data published in @ColorectalDis from the @nicefitteam study led by @muti192 @RMPartnersNHS:
1103 younger (<50) patients had “high risk” 🚩 bowel symptoms.
But cancer was the cause of symptoms in only 1.5% of these patients. 51.3% had normal colonoscopies.

A new study has found that increasing the sensitivity of the faecal immunochemical test (FIT) can help identify more cases of #bowelcancer in younger people when they visit their GP with symptoms.
