Very unsurprising to see yesterday's school shooting being instantly exploited by an Israeli "special ops veteran" to justify the imposition of "Israel-grade" AI mass surveillance of the internet. This is how 9/11 was exploited to implement NSA mass surveillance of Americans.

Availability as experienced by users, is the tip of the ice cube. The way some services fail, the incident is changing even as you're trying to resolve it. The problems are "open, complex, dynamic and networked" (Kees Dorst). Why need #systemsengineering for #servicedesign.

As a Democrat I'm finding it *extremely* hard to oppose the idea of the United States, Russia and China agreeing to cut their military budgets by half. Imagine just how much of our tax money we will save!

They tackle the most common IT problem for traditional businesses: the ontological truth of an entity isn’t the same schema that you implement in your data engineering, and this slows down development. Think of a bank having a customer table. In the ideal world they would have a single table with 500 columns. Every developer would easily know where to get which data attributes. However, due to IT constrains, data engineering will break down that table horizontally and vertically. Each project requiring customer data from that moment on will explode into a giant planning project. Palantir is a bit like a GraphQL on steroids: It allows you to map your “ideal ontology” (a set of schema files) to your IT backend. From there it will translate your write/reads - so you can focus on working on business requirements; and abstract data engineering and orchestration to another team in IT.

Those of us who fiercely oppose Trump should also strongly support his move to end the tax break that has long benefited PE and Wall Street firms. Otherwise we lose all credibility!

Deepseek has tapped into something deep in so many. I haven't seen so much widespread excitement and relief in a long time, just when things appeared hopelessly conflicted. I'm glad that AI solutions can now be developed with much lower carbon footprints.

This is part of a series on evaluating contracts and services. Taking the case of a healthcare system outsourcing its laundry operations, this first part introduces the concepts of net value, E-ratings and non-financial costs. strctrl.org/net-value-o-p-e/

Carefully constructed statements are the building blocks of software programs, but also of policies, rules, regulations, contracts, and agreements. With or without AI, crafting statements is a valuable skill that gets better with practice. strctrl.org/making-statement…
