Most public servants work for state & local government, not the feds. But there's been almost no effort to systematically study how these personnel systems actually work. Last fall, we partnered with @napawash to start filling that gap w/ basic research. Our report is now out! 🧵

The Selective Service System (SSS) may not be the agency you think of when you think about "agile government," but under @SpangenbergJoel's leadership, the SSS expanded its impact by partnering with other service agencies like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps to expand opportunities for all Americans to serve, both in and out of uniform: bit.ly/4l8Neg That spirit of collaboration reflects something bigger about national service in this moment. By modernizing its systems — including the bipartisan automatic registration provision enacted in last year’s NDAA by members of the @BipartisanVets — the SSS enhanced coordination across agencies to widen on-ramps to service. @napawash
