Medication shortages escalating.
No dissolvable prednesol available for managing asthma and wheeze exaccerbations. Betnesol unlicensed, so costly also not easily available.
No Lyclear for scabies.
Problems with steroid creams, antibiotics much more

Pat Kenny @newtalkfm described out of hours GPs yesterday as โguns for hireโ his veterinary clinic is open 8 to 8 and weekends. GP OOH are open 6pm to 8am M to F , 24/7 at w/eโs and B hols. itโs local @ICGPnews GPs providing the services 365 days a year on top of their day job

These are the ANNUAL fees your GP Practice will get for providing 24/7 care for UNLIMITED appointments.
And we also PAY (5k) and WORK(200h) in OOH for the pleasure.
This is called capitation and with this fee we pay for ALL running costs of practice.

When U6 free GP scheme was introduced, contacts & GP consultations of U6s to NEDOC increased by 30% immediately. Same number of GPs now as then - who will see all these patients? Implementing this without adequate GP clinical resources will be detrimental to GP day & OOH.

Spoke to a GP tonight who will have to to pay 20,000 euro from the 2 gp practice for the luxury of NOT working overnight to allow them work safely during the day
