Google Scholar had released their metrics and ranking for 2024 (for articles published in 2019–2023).
Here are the venues in Human Computer Interaction, ranked according to Scholar, with @acm_chi at the top. scholar.google.com/citations…
📢The new Executive Committee (EC) term begins on July 1, and the newly elected team is ready to take charge. For more on this update, please see our new Medium post: medium.com/sigchi/the-sigchi…
What @plopesresearch said. Regardless of who you voted for, we're here to serve, and we want this to be a better #SIGCHI4all. The survey will take you a minute. Thanks for your time! 🙏
Congrats to the new team leading @sigchi into bright futures, spearheaded by @nehakumar ! Even more important than who you voted on is that they are already at work and soliciting feedback from us, I've filled out the survey (takes 1 min): what changes do you want to see in #HCI?
Thank you @sigchi! I'm overjoyed that all members of our current team on the slate of candidates were elected. This team accomplishment speaks to the vision and impact we've been striving towards. No greater reminder that team work truly does make the dream work! ✨

It has been a tremendous honor and a privilege to serve as @sigchi President over the last three years. It took time, energy, commitment, a whole lot of love (and undoubtedly some tears), to pull us out of the pandemic to the point that we are at today. [1/6]
Kudos to everyone who had the courage and commitment to run! To those who voted us in, we count on your continued support in coming years. To others in SIGCHI, I hope we can draw on shared goals and commitments to drive the SIG's success. [2/3]
We continue to look for more experienced scholars to participate as ACs in #CSCW2025. Please consider participating by filling out this survey surveymonkey.com/r/Z7ZGL55
If you are a @sigchi member, and would like to know where the SIG spends and why, do read this post, long as it admittedly is. And tell us what more you'd like to know! 🙏

So priceless to have been a part of @SachinPendse's PhD journey so full of insightful learning, inspirational commitment, and memorable conversations. You will be missed, Sachin! 🥳
Last week, I had the honor of sharing 5 years of collected research during my (successful!) PhD defense. Next, I'll spend one year as a @cbitshealth postdoc, then begin as an assistant professor at @UCSF_DOCIT in Sept 2025. I am so thankful and excited for what the future holds!
ALT A picture of me with my advisors and committee members.
After I was told that my defense had been successful, the question arose of how we could quickly take a formal (non-selfie) picture of my committee and me. I quickly walked to the hallway to see if there was anyone around who could take the picture, and stumbled upon a guy walking back from his lunch break, lunchbox in hand.
Me (still in shock): "Hey, uh, I just successfully, uh, defended my dissertation...can you take a picture of me with my committee?"
Him (with furrowed brow): "Hmm...yes, yes I do think I can."
And then after a pause, with him deep in thought, he sprinted off into the distance.
Me: "Wait, where are you going?! Could you take the picture?"
Him: "Don't worry! This is my job! I'm getting my professional camera!"
Thank you to JP Popham, a professional photographer for GT's College of Computing, who I happened to bump into. You certainly had more energy (and a better quality camera) than I did in that moment.
ALT My dissertation is entitled The Algorithm Keeps The Score: Identity, Marginalization, and Power in the Technology-Mediated Search for Care.
I deliberated a fair bit before deciding to run for re-election. It has taken hard work to introduce structural changes, and I feel driven to institutionalize these changes for the long-term wellbeing of the SIG. SIGCHI is a complex organization and it takes time [4/6]
(indeed, years) to get past surface level operations to know and understand the changes needed from a systemic perspective. If given the opportunity, @luigidr and I would consider it an honor to leverage the understanding we have gained in recent years [5/6]
to take the SIG forward. And if not, we will absolutely stand in support of the team that does. 🙏
Be a #SIGCHI voter: acm.org/elections/sigs/vote [6/6]
and an engaged, thriving community. These opening remarks I made at #CHI2024 attest to the incredible place that we are at as a SIG, with so much to celebrate, and no doubt much room to still deepen and broaden our impact: medium.com/sigchi/at-chi-202… [3/6]

And I’m endlessly grateful for all the support the SIGCHI Executive Committee received from so many of you across the world, in instituting the structural changes we sought to achieve towards ensuring inclusive infrastructures, a strong global SIGCHI presence, [2/6]
