Nick Wallis highlights a contradiction between NHS Sussex's directive to WellBN GP surgery to immediately cease specialist gender care for children under 18 and update public materials, versus WellBN's initial statement claiming no changes to care, treatment, or support for patients.
An NHS Patient Safety Investigation Report found WellBN caused "actual potential harm" to 78 children and young people via puberty blockers and gender medications from 2023-2024, citing poor record-keeping, inadequate assessments, lack of informed consent, and safeguarding failures.
After Wallis contacted both parties, WellBN updated its website to note it stopped registering new young patients for gender-affirming care in April 2025 per ICB instructions, while maintaining other services are unaffected; clinicians were referred for professional investigations.
NHS: WellBN "must not resume offering specialist gender care to children... and that the Practice’s public facing materials must make this clear with immediate effect"
WellBN: "there is no change to the care, treatment, or support our patients receive."
