As one of the original members of the Foundation, having been instrumental in the Outreach Program for Women, which became Outreachy, we are devastated to have lost this wonderful person from the GNOME community.
We are sad to inform our community that Marina Zhurakhinsakaya died from cancer on Saturday. @Outreachy wouldn't exist w/out her dedication, which continued until her last day. Later this week, we'll share our own remembrance & designate a place for others to post remembrances.
We started profitable rather than relying on external funding to cover the costs of running customer services. As a result we can keep the prices stable even if investors get bored of losing money.
Our pilot study of using a storytelling approach to engage girls aged 6-7 in the Computing classroom has produced evidence of promise. This pilot is part of our Gender Balance in Computing research programme.
