Replying to @AlistairCarns
Actually, Russian interference and money rendered the 2016 Referendum vote not free and fair . Mrs May was officially informed of this - and then she Notified Article 50 ! May should now necessarily be required to state exactly why she did that .

Just remind us which party you support? Oh yes, the Conservative Party. And who are the worst Prime Ministers since the 1900s? Liz Truss, widely regarded by many as the worst Prime Minister in modern British history. Boris Johnson, whose government was in office during the Covid pandemic, during which more than 200,000 people died in the United Kingdom. Neville Chamberlain. Given that record, perhaps lectures about political leadership should be taken with a pinch of salt, particularly from The Spectator, a Tory rag that once had Boris Johnson as its Editor.
The last Prime Minister to resign over national security was Neville Chamberlain in 1940. Eighty six years later, Sir Keir Starmer's defence secretary and armed forces minister have resigned because they believe the current PM and Chancellor of the Exchequer are endangering national security through their refusal to fund the armed services properly. The UK is ranked 31st out of 32 on a database comparing how Nato members are meeting their rearmament promises. The only country below us is Iceland, which has no armed forces. There could be no worse an accusation by a (now former) Defence Secretary. This should be climactic for Starmer. And yet there is zero possibility of him resigning in shame or, as with Chamberlain, having lost the confidence of his own MPs. โœ๏ธ Stephen Pollard Article | spectator.com/article/keir-sโ€ฆ

While Labour may have its problems, the Conservative Party continues its descent into political irrelevance. Its leader, Kemi Badenoch, appears unable to recognise that the party is failing on almost every measure that matters. Election after election has demonstrated the same reality. The Conservative brand remains badly damaged and has yet to reconnect with large sections of the electorate. The truth is that the Conservatives are still paying the price for their years in government. Economic instability, collapsing public trust and the consequences of Brexit continue to cast a long shadow over the party. Many within politics understand that the Conservatives will eventually have to return to the centre right if they are to become electorally competitive again. The problem is that they remain trapped between their traditional supporters and the forces they helped unleash. That is why so much of today's Conservative politics appears to be looking backwards rather than forwards. So please spare us the lectures. The public delivered their verdict. When a political party loses credibility on the scale the Conservatives have, people eventually stop listening. That is the true danger of political irrelevance. It is not that your opponents defeat you. It is that the electorate no longer regards you as part of the solution.

I am struggling to see the logic here. Al Carns was only elected to Parliament in 2024 and has served as a minister for a relatively short period of time. Yet he is already making sweeping predictions about the break up of the United Kingdom, future elections and what may happen a decade from now. To be honest, it comes across more as political positioning than serious analysis. The country faces immediate challenges that require attention now: economic growth, public services, defence, investment and living standards. Voters are looking for solutions to today's problems, not speculation about hypothetical coalition governments and constitutional crises years into the future. The lesson from recent political history is actually quite simple. Parties succeed when they focus on governing competently and delivering for the electorate. They fail when they become consumed by personalities, factions and political theatre. Perhaps a little less crystal ball gazing and a little more focus on the job he was elected to do would be a good place to start.

I experienced all of the superb qualities in a Zoom Meeting today with #KeirStarmer, who took time out before the G7 meeting to webcast with the Party members. In fact, he was more than I had envisaged: statesmanlike, quick-thinking, detailed in his answers, and very relatable.

The UK is so very lucky to have a thoroughly decent calm, serious hardworking PM who is respected domestically and has the gravitas required on the international stage. Every day more and more people are becoming informed and realising how fab our @Keir_Starmer and @UKLabour are.
