I have been watching the US play for four minutes and they are diving all over the place up by two goals. Ok.

Wasn’t on my AI bingo card, but should have been in retrospect.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Hot take: Option<bool> is always bad. Or at least always worse than a small enum that describes each state. Because true is well-defined, and false is well-defined, but None potentially has a different meaning for every Option<bool> usage.

Chaos is 4.8:1 Exalt in mirage right now. I’m not normally into currency trading but this seems pretty low? Gemini was shocked.

It’s more likely than you think…
Uncomfortable possibility: AI is massively accelerating a lot of knowledge work a lot of knowledge work adds no real value = lots of AI, little productivity impact.

The best thing that could happen, but won’t, is that every frontier lab sits down and makes tiers of their existing models that are 10x cheaper to run and 10x faster to respond.

This is needed much more than Ops 10 extra reasoning edition at $80/M output tokens.

Thought for sure Tidal would give me a discount for trying to cancel. But no. I’ll miss it a little but I’m dropping it for the literal worst subscription music service I’ve ever used.

I wish UV could install tools that sit in unmapped remote P4 repos. If I just say this into the void will the Astral team see it and implement it? 🤔 A thing that only I need? 🤔

I didn't know I wanted 1000 token/s but now I know that I want that.

Every time I come to trust a piece of software I get burned. Today it was clang.

I just picked the game back up so maybe the timing on this will be perfect.

For the PoE2 SC players. You can head to this location in the fortress to get an extra passive point. Context: GGG added an amazing quirk - a level 100 character can DESTROY their character in this location for EVERYONE in the league to get 1 passive point. AWESOME feature.

The old static vs dynamic typing flame war never died — it just migrated into the LLM era. This new paper found Type does help * LLMs fix bugs better when compilers give them more verbose error msg (untyped -> fully typed) * Typed feedback also beats test‑only feedback.

I am considering a radical strategy: don’t do more, do better. Why has no one thought of this yet??

An under explored aspect of AI for me right now is getting a feel for degradation induced by quantization. This one is hard to explore for me but I need to get a handle on it to really understand token economics.

I regularly talk to GPT about stuff but it's been very frustrating lately. I gave it an idea and asked it to critique it. After several chat turns I repeat the original idea and it says "Ah finally we're at a workable idea!" and I want to throw controller.
