I've noticed few accounts attacking the Global Sumud flotilla, calling it theatrical, a waste of time, ineffective, and a drain on resources, so I wanted to share my personal view.
I'm used to seeing only Zionist accounts make such remarks about any mission that draws attention to the Palestinian cause and humanizes Palestinians.
For those who see the flotilla as a waste, they must also be against all global rallies, because Sumud is no different from the street protests carrying Palestinian flags and calling for a ceasefire,it's just happening at sea.
If those rallies were a waste, how was attention drawn to the genocide in Gaza? How was the world awakened?
Since the so called "ceasefire" in October 2025, Gaza and the West Bank have still seen daily martyrs, injuries, and arrests, drone and warplane strikes never stopped, only the international cameras did. Without rallies and Global Sumud, people are being slaughtered in SILENCE.
It was disheartening to see accounts I respect for sharing daily Palestinian struggles accuse Sumud using the exact same language I've read from hasbara.
Generalizing activists because of a few is unfair, there are many great activists on those vessels using their platforms to educate and bring attention back to an ongoing genocide.
Every member is responsible for their own actions, and that doesn't undermine the mission.
No hard feelings to anyone, I understand all of us are emotional, and this message is written in good faith.
No, they may not break the siege, but they brought silent suffering back onto our phone screens. The Sumud mission, Sameer Project, Radio Watermelon, and so many great efforts serve the people. Undermining them only serves the oppressors, not the oppressed.
