On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law as my father looked on. It was not a gift. It was the result of sacrifice, courage, organizing, and nonviolent struggle.
I believe my father would be deeply troubled by the ongoing efforts to weaken voting rights and make fair representation harder to secure. But I also believe he would not want us to surrender to frustration or despair.
We have work to do. We must organize with discipline, demand new voting rights protections, and continue pressing toward a democracy where every voice is valued and every vote is protected.

Tatiana is a beautiful writer, journalist, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. This piece is about what she has been going through for the last year and a half. It's an ode to all the doctors and nurses who toil on the frontlines of humanity. It's so many things, but best to read it yourself, and be blown away by one woman's life story. DFL Sen. John Hoffman was discharged from the hospital today after undergoing another surgery earlier this week for injuries he sustained from the political shooting attack at his home exactly five months ago.
