For starters, the weekly benefit caps in many states make the replacement rates very low for middle class workers (e.g., $235 in MS).
So yes, it would be great to fix UI.
Our current UI system is actually equipped to handle very little. It takes forever to get approved, benefits are often skimpy, etc. You don’t have to think mass layoffs are coming to want to fix UI.
But if you think technological change is coming you should REALLY want it fixed
