This is encouraging to see, bodes well for our ability to navigate the contradictions of the Mamdani era

Some people are surprised by Boots Riley's relentless personal promotional campaign for I Love Boosters, but he's just applying a core lesson from political organizing: you have to be comfortable being kinda annoying and embarrassing if you want to succeed

On 9/11 one of my first thoughts was "oh God, what is the US going to do now." Some of my DSA comrades back then thought they had to support the empire, just as their successors thought we had to after 10/7. I respect people who had an analysis and got it right in the moment.
Replying to @DropSiteNews
Asked why she attended the October 8, 2023 pro-Palestine Times Square rally, New York congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier said because she believed Israel’s response would be “disproportionate and create a greater loss of life.” “That is what I was there to stand against.” By the end of October 8, 2023, Israel had already murdered 413 Palestinians and wounded between 2,200 and 2,300 others in indiscriminate retaliatory airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.

I fear that people debating the definition of early 2000s hipster culture are not engaging with the contemporaneous scholarship on the question archive.org/details/bwb_KR-6…

My ex doesn't live in the US and she doesn't need me to tell her to see I Love Boosters. So I just texted her "October", she'll understand.
We have to take things to the next level to raise awareness for I Love Boosters. Social media confines posts 2a small circle, so If u like I Love Boosters- actually TEXT the trailer to all ur friends. If u LOVE I Love Boosters, text it to ur EX. Its ok to ghost after the text.

The perpetual dilemma of the corporate Democrat: trying to please the voters and the donors, who want very different things
Detroit News: "Stevens doesn’t want to talk about getting support from AIPAC because it’s become “very toxic” in Democratic primaries in other states, said Democratic strategist Chris DeWitt, who isn’t involved in the Senate primary contest. “Stevens is in a bit of a conundrum. She doesn’t have fundraising grassroots support, so she needs the money to be able to run her campaign. And AIPAC is a problem, but it’s the only source of money she has. In the end, it’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” DeWitt said.

Just saw I Love Boosters, the movie that finally nails the absurd madcap humor of the science of dialectical materialism in the way only @BootsRiley can

You could say Boots kind of has a formula, but if the formula is "working class person from Oakland is being ground down by capitalism until they stumble upon a magical plot macguffin and learn a very important lesson about solidarity and class struggle" then keep it coming

This guy's voters are all past draft age and hate their kids, so this is a very savvy position to take
Thomas Massie’s opponent, Ed Gallrein, says he wants to bring back the military draft for “national security” reasons. He complains that the current system is too slow when it comes to sending large numbers of young Americans off to a potential world war. "That is a significant issue for national security." "I'm not sure we have that kind of time anymore."

There's a trope in bourgeois ideology I call "the magic of the marketplace": markets can make anything real if there's a strong enough economic incentive for it. Usually deployed to imagine tech solutions to social problems, but you can also use it for geopolitical clusterfucks!
JP Morgan on oil prices/Strait of Hormuz: "A core assumption of our framework is that the accelerating pace of oil inventory depletion will ultimately force the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one way or another. Our base case envisions the Strait reopens in June—anchored on June 1 for simplicity—following a clear and credible announcement ratified and confirmed by both sides, such as a statement from the UN Security Council."

Bro, your magazine is named after an obscure factional dispute in the 1920s CPUSA, how are you out here accusing people of cringe LARPing just because we carry on some of our movement's best known and beloved traditions
The first time I found myself in a group of communists singing the international I cringed, hoped it’d be over soon, and wished we had mass politics instead of a niche subculture that sings 100 year old LARP songs. This isn’t about what makes us feel good, it’s about revolution.

The management at the Times may think they can delegitimize anti-Zionism by making Tucker the face of it, but all they're actually going to do is legitimize antisemitism
Am I crazy or is the New York Times podcast lady actually trying to argue that insulting Jewish people is worse than the mass murder of children?

Running New York means managing capitalism. Building socialism means confronting it. Zohran Mamdani’s mayoralty has brought that contradiction into the state: jacobin.com/2026/04/mamdani-…

I wrote about Zohran, in the perhaps vain hope that I could add something beyond the tired DSA "left vs. right" debates about how we relate to our elected officials.

What happens when a DSA politician takes charge of the largest city in the United States? Zohran Mamdani’s early record is filled with successes, but also evidence of the contradictions between socialist politics and governing the capitalist state. jacobin.com/2026/04/mamdani-…
