I have been doing research on #pharmaceuticals in the environment for over a decade now. This summer at @IISD_ELA we are taking it to the next (ecological) level. Let me tell you why below.
Join us on April 16th for the first instalment of our new **SETAC PNC Seminar Series**
🗣️ Dr. Benjamin Barst

🌊 Celebrating #science in action! For 10 years, the International Institute for Sustainable Development has managed the world’s #freshwater laboratory, helping us understand and protect #lakes and #rivers.
We are proud to support their important research work.
@IISD_ELA
Thank you @FrontBioeng for promoting our latests @IISD_ELA paper coming out of our Oil Spill Research Program. Kuddos to Madeline Stanley and the rest of the team for the hard work
I have written a Letter to the Editor in ET&C. My message is simple: let's consider submitting our best manuscripts to journals owned by societies we care about. It is essentially a reflection of my appreciation (or love) for SETAC. Hope you like it

🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Shelley Arnott, Professor at @queensu, on receiving the 2025 Rigler Award!
@ShelleyArnott studies aquatic ecology, focusing on how plankton communities respond to environmental change. Read the announcement here: ow.ly/BNZF50UnwhB

Another ANOVA/model tip in #R, be careful with using numbers to describe grouping factors (e.g., labeling sites as 1, 2, 3). If R sees numeric/integer data, it will treat it as a continuous covariate (ANCOVA), even if what you wanted was a comparison of groups. 🧵
"I'm here to tell you that we should we pollute the environment more in order to, ultimately, pollute it less.
I guarantee that in ten minutes, I will have you convinced..."

I owe a bunch of my R knowledge to the @R4DScommunity. I use it every day for my science and my teaching. The #TidyTuesday is even a par of the University-level #rstats course I teach. If you can help, you will be helping the next generation of data scientist.
As @girls_can notes below, a comment article we co-wrote back at the end of 2021 came out TODAY. This process - my first comment piece - was hard in many ways, but we felt it was needed.
I co-authored a Comment on a paper looking at effects of the #herbicide#glyphosate. It took YEARS. I’ve never bothered before: seems petty to criticize other people’s work in public. But our audience is the whole discipline and our message is: esajournals.onlinelibrary.wi…#academia
As one legacy of Covid-19 leaves people more likely to use sanitizing and disinfecting products, our @IISD_ELA expert @pitrod explores what this means for our river and lakes in @Newsweek.

We now use more cleaning products than ever—and it's easy to see why.
But what is this doing to the health of our water supplies?
Our very own @pitrod poses the question for @Newsweek...
