“This is a problem we can fix, but only if we make the right choices” — @BrendanCoates at last week’s Henry George Address on enabling good density in the middle suburbs to solve our worsening housing crisis. smh.com.au/politics/federal/…
“Either people accept greater density in their suburb or their children will not be able to buy a home, and seniors will not be able to downsize in the suburb where they live" smh.com.au/politics/federal/…
We are in this together. 🌍
The science is clear: the adverse impacts of #ClimateChange are already felt in every country of the world.
Impacts will accelerate with every fraction of a degree of global warming.
To limit future impacts we need to halve emissions by 2030. #COP27
Safe, segregated cycling lanes should be the norm and critical if we were to address the climate and biodiversity emergency as a City.
Please consider signing this petition to return the cycling lanes by @VicRoads in Albert Park.
@WeSustainCities@climatecouncil
Nothing irks me more to have to advocate for the recognition of safe, segregated cycling lanes in S. Africa than having to wake up to my other City, Melbourne removing.
Safe, segregated cycling lanes should be the norm. Tell @VicRoads to return them.

Remember kids, every day is earth Day and it starts with the design of your neighbourhood.
Let’s plant highways of trees and cycling lanes, not roads for electrical cars, connected by mixed zone areas.
Cities can be the drivers to address the twin Climate & Biodiversity crisis.
What is your local ward councillor or Mayor doing? theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i…
How simple could it be yet so many miss it. Cities need to be redesigned for the climate crisis. Can they make us happy, too? @guardian theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i…
Victoria is one of the fastest-growing states in Australia. Check below how @CASBEcouncils is preparing for the future that takes inter-generational equality around the climate, health and the economy into account when it comes to subdivisions.

Submission Update.
We're proud to have written a submission to the Inquiry into protections of the Victorian Planning Framework. We have articulated our view that the system as it is currently designed is not fit to address the climate and biodiversity emergency.
We acknowledge the work of @anna_hurlimann & @bushjude whose research has been vital to us forming our views in addition to previous reviews of the system. We hope this is the start of even more advocacy in 2022!

European Commission writes history! From now on the development of #cycling, walking, public transport and shared mobility services need to be prioritised in urban mobility. Not just a “level playing field”, no, PRIORITISED!

In other words climate change policy.
Big opportunity for our national gov. to take the lead on active mobility.
Meantime a handful of councils like @cityofmelbourne, @cityofsydney, etc. are taking the lead.
Kudos to the practitioners & councillors involved in this work.
