In Spain, a drought turns the world’s largest olive oil producing region brown. NASA’s Terra satellite shows where green vegetation in May 2022 (left) turned brown by May 2023 (right). The drought dried up reservoirs, parched olive groves, and led to water restrictions.

Close up on the saw-tooth. Second attempt to search for this lantern bug and we found 6 of them on the same tree, slightly off the trail.

Some years ago I came across the art of Hubert Duprat, a French artist that, in the 1980’s experimented with #EntoArt ! He raised #caddisfly larvae in aquariums full of gold, turquoise, opal, etc.,which the caddisfly used to build their cases. Thread time! 1/6

Duprat was very interested in this so he used pieces of gold in the aquarium and observed their art! He soon realised that when trying to remove the cases, they rebuilt them. If the cases got damaged, they would mend them too, so he started incorporating other materials. 5/6

The cases were stunning, and so he removed them without hurting them before they rebuilt them. If you liked this THREAD, I invite you to read this interview about his work and inspirations! He wasn’t the first one to play with caddis cases! leonardo.info/isast/articles… 6/6
